The Work 2-3

The work 2-6 should be epic

In a good way or bad way????

Meanwhile, Florida gonna have a top 5 class coming off a 4-8 season. **** our lives.

For Golden, this is a Catch22.

Scenario 1: "The Florida Model".... He fires Dorito, hires a new DC and can sell kids like Valentine on a new scheme, hope, trending up, etc, etc. I 100% believe that Valentine is in this class if this happens.

Scenario 2: "The Cover my own *** Model"... Keep the entire staff, suffer some recruiting losses and create a ton of negative thoughts in the local area in regards to the staff's competence. This model is terrible for the fans and the current players, but great for Golden. He gets 2014 to see if he can correct the issues. If he doesn't, he can now fire some people and then he can sell the "Florida Model" to recruits and fans in 2015. He then gets another season in 2015 to field a competent squad. By not firing Dorito, he makes the team worse, but guarantees himself another "out" and therefore another season next year.

Pathetic but a smart move for Al.

Until he wins 6 games next season.

Look for Miami to pick up a player or two after signing day. They are expected to have a couple of extra scholarships available.

The Annual Al Gorlden Tradition. Can't wait to see what DT castoffs we pickup.

im still waiting for them to bring in some kid who wasnt listed on any scouting service and only picked up football within the last 2 yrs...but brings great promise and potential. its almost too predictable at this point

Like 4 star Demetrius Jackson?

Not sure where all this extra scholarships laying around bull**** is coming from because is simply not the case. Right now, Miami sits with with 56 players on 'ships. That's counting the graduates and Bunche leaving. We have 26 commits which puts us at 82. We have 9 ships that have to give up over a three year period, so this puts us right on track.

Lastly, I can see perhaps signing one or two more considering grades and attrition.....but there is no gross mismanagement of 'ships being left on the table...

First, the 9 ships can be taken at any time over 3 years. Sure they could take 3 each year but they can split it a different way as well.

Second, the school is trying to claim that they some of the ships they self-imposed last year should count towards the 9. Not saying it will work, just this is where the school may have some additional ships.
Third, not sure if the 56 number is correct but that is neither here nor there.

This was already denied. And while we can move the nine around over the 3 years, it's been stated they're planning to be at 82 this year.

Like I said the school is trying to claim. Perhaps there is some appeal.

you know i don't understand why everyone is THIS gloomy this offseason.

yes the bowl game was bad.

sure the team threw away a shot at the ACC championship game.

and sure our rival won the national title.

but as far as recruiting goes, we were on a false high last year until signing day where we got kicked in the nuts.

this year, we are just getting our nuts kicked a little bit earlier.

**Look for Miami to pick up a player or two after signing day. They are expected to have a couple of extra scholarships available. There is a decent chance that Brayden Lenius pushes his signing back after Wednesday. If he does that, he will most likely take a trip to Miami.

JAGS COMIN

We picked up Elder, Griffin, and O'Donell last year! I'll take more jags please.

One was a PUNTER
One never made it in
The other is a backup corner. We still don't know what we have there

None of that makes up for the failures in recruiting that big fat Al has sufferred.

On one hand you're saying you can't judge a recruit because he's a backup and only been here a year but then golden has failed in recruiting?

2011 class I don't care about because he had less than 30 days of actual recruiting to put together a class. Next year Shapiro story breaks but Al still puts together a pretty solid 2012 class. 2013 still dealing with Shapiro and negative recruiting but Al puts together another decent class. Missed on some pretty important recruits at DT. 2014 no more Shapiro and we have a VERY solid class covering everything except maybe a big back. What say you?

No...I'm simply saying Golden has failed in recruiting PERIOD. I'm not saying Corn is a bad player.

Guy is a HORRIBLE gameday coach. If you want to sell me on a model where you can win in spite of a horrible gameday coach by supplementing the situation with knock out recruiting...I still wouldn't be thrilled but I'd at least withhold judgement.

Now we have a scenario where the underqualified and substandard gameday coach isn't killing it in recruiting...it's a recipe for 3-4 more years of being stuck in mediocrity.

When you take into account how LOADED south florida was this year...this class is an absolute, postive disappointment. Anyone who says otherwise is blindly defending the fat guy.

This isn't a top 10 class if we miss on all the remaining targets.

I'm ****ed as **** at the state of this program too, but this class is not a disappointment. If guys like Thomas had come into the class in December instead of June, people would be talking more about them.

Where this team has struggled is at QB and then non-glamor positions. This class is very solid with Kaaya, McDermott, Darling and Thomas being MAJOR gets up the middle at positions we desperately needed. The class is not the home run that it could have been had we closed another running back and Valentine, but it is sitting at a solid B-B+ right now. Tone down the rhetoric a bit.

They did, and the NCAA said no.

There was an article a few days ago that stated the school was still had hopes that decision would get reversed. In was in the Herald I believe.

Not sure why people are bashing our recruiting class when it's in the top 10 in the country. Should it be in the top 2 coming off a 9 win season, where FSU won the title? Just seems unrealistic to think that anything besides top 3 is an utter disappointment.

Completely agreed, it is a relative disappointment. We should have had Valentine. We should have JC Jackson. We should have had ONE of Dixon/Lane/Rudolph...we should have had ONE of Michel/Cook...etc etc.

But it isn't an "absolute, positive" disappointment. That would be true if we hadn't gotten blue chips at QB, Running Back, Pass Rusher, Left Tackle, Right Tackle, etc. Essentially, if it was the class of 2011 all over again I would agree with you.
