The Work 2-3

Do you have a link for that? Would be wonderful if holding them back last year counted for something. And Consigliere, I wasn't trying to be rude or anything, just clear because my previous post was ambiguous.

As long as you don't give me the finger from your keyboard, we're cool.

Not sure why people are bashing our recruiting class when it's in the top 10 in the country. Should it be in the top 2 coming off a 9 win season, where FSU won the title? Just seems unrealistic to think that anything besides top 3 is an utter disappointment.

It won't be on Wednesday. We are currently at 8, 8, 11, 11 on the big 4 services and the other schools are actually going to close by adding players, not losing them.

### UM still hopes the NCAA will reduce its penalty of nine docked football scholarships because UM withheld some last year. But the NCAA hasn’t given UM an answer yet.

Good to have you back Pete. I have come to terms with TV's sale to LSU. The upside is his loss kills Al's 3-4. No NT for Al. Class has fine DTs for a 4-3 though and great DEs for one. I am hoping Al has no choice for to change. I like getting Treon now. Clearly FSU used him so maybe him and Ice will be more reasonable if he doesn't make it at QB. Between this and the whole "we own your rear" last year with the LB, BTW should have a clear vision of what the criminoles are like.

Courtel Jenkins is a NT all day and twice on sunday. Not to mention there are several under the radar types out there.

Remember AG when he was a 3* Temple developed NT Terrance "Pot Roast Knighton who plays for the Denver Broncos.

Go Canes

IMHO people are sleeping on Jenkins. Ideally we would be able to redshirt him, but I think he can come in and help right away. TV would have been more likely to have an immediate impact, but Jenkins is a very good NT prospect in his own right.

I love Jenkins. I don't see him being ready to do anything at that position as a true freshman other than get physically abused. It would be criminal to expect him to come in here and give us much in light of what we ask our DTs to do.

On one hand you're saying you can't judge a recruit because he's a backup and only been here a year but then golden has failed in recruiting?

2011 class I don't care about because he had less than 30 days of actual recruiting to put together a class. Next year Shapiro story breaks but Al still puts together a pretty solid 2012 class. 2013 still dealing with Shapiro and negative recruiting but Al puts together another decent class. Missed on some pretty important recruits at DT. 2014 no more Shapiro and we have a VERY solid class covering everything except maybe a big back. What say you?

No...I'm simply saying Golden has failed in recruiting PERIOD. I'm not saying Corn is a bad player.

Guy is a HORRIBLE gameday coach. If you want to sell me on a model where you can win in spite of a horrible gameday coach by supplementing the situation with knock out recruiting...I still wouldn't be thrilled but I'd at least withhold judgement.

Now we have a scenario where the underqualified and substandard gameday coach isn't killing it in recruiting...it's a recipe for 3-4 more years of being stuck in mediocrity.

When you take into account how LOADED south florida was this year...this class is an absolute, postive disappointment. Anyone who says otherwise is blindly defending the fat guy.

I'm ****ed as **** at the state of this program too, but this class is not a disappointment. If guys like Thomas had come into the class in December instead of June, people would be talking more about them.

Where this team has struggled is at QB and then non-glamor positions. This class is very solid with Kaaya, McDermott, Darling and Thomas being MAJOR gets up the middle at positions we desperately needed. The class is not the home run that it could have been had we closed another running back and Valentine, but it is sitting at a solid B-B+ right now. Tone down the rhetoric a bit.

Class is still a relative disappointment when you consider how loaded our own backyard this year. This is one of those years where we should have had a top 5 class , even by accident.

When you can't coach...I expect you to recruit like an animal. Recruiting like an animal doesn't mean missing out on ELITE players in your own backyard. If we have any hope of overcoming the deficiencies of that crappy *** defensive scheme a "solid" or "good" recruiting class isn't going to cut it.

Completely agreed, it is a relative disappointment. We should have had Valentine. We should have JC Jackson. We should have had ONE of Dixon/Lane/Rudolph...we should have had ONE of Michel/Cook...etc etc.

But it isn't an "absolute, positive" disappointment. That would be true if we hadn't gotten blue chips at QB, Running Back, Pass Rusher, Left Tackle, Right Tackle, etc. Essentially, if it was the class of 2011 all over again I would agree with you.

I've used the term "relative" disappointment about 300 times the last 2 weeks...this was the one post where I accidentally left off the word.

But my bigger point is....this "not absolute", "solid", "good" recruiting class isn't going to cut it with this staff. I expect more when there is so much left to be desired both on gamedays and in the preparation leading up to gameday.

Honestly, if we switch to a 4-3 base defense, I think we solve a lot of problems. All of the guys we have at DT, except for maybe Courtel and Wyche. Even our DE's are 4-3 DE's. Yeah, McCord, AQM, DJ can play the jack lb position, but wth is the staff going to do with Chad Thomas? He's clearly not a 3-4 olb, too small and would be stupid to make him into a 3-4 end. Please give the 4-3 a shot staff!!!

The funny thing is contrary to what he thinks or what lsu sold him isn't tv a classic 3 4 guy? Certainly has the potential to make a lot of money in that role in the nfl. How many teams run a 3 4?

Yeah, but now he wants to play in a 4-3, OH and he wants to play lighter. OH, and unlike 99.999% of recruits, he actually DOESNT want early playing time, its too much "pressure", hed rather "ease into things". LMAO. Basically anything to sell the excuse.

Don't understand why VT commited in the first place if he wanted to play in a more aggressive defense.
It's not like it has changed.

He committed before the bottom completely fell out of the defense in the second half of the season. The on-field performance gave LSU plenty of ammunition to use against us. Fat Diabeetus Gut Al's refusal to completely overhaul the defense after the season gave them all they needed to convince him things wouldn't change.

Your wrong, its not the alignment, its the philosophy. They would still ask the linemen to two gap and we would have our same problems. lack of penetration. We need a new DC that implements his D, not No D's or Golden's

Correct ^^

You can have similar alignments but entirely different philosophies.

how do you know with better guys they won't get more aggressive?

I'm not reading all that **** but I take it that I don't need to stay home on Weds.

Thanks comma Al

Yep, my blood pressure went up when I read the first line of the Work.

The staff did a ****** job of closing this year. I don't even want Treon unless he will go yo CB immediately with no drama. They are striking out everywhere else.

NSD isn't worth taking a day off.

Thanks, staph.
