The U Administration's commitment to Miami football...

Exactly. Write a check that isn't directly connected to you receiving something in return like season tickets.

I hate to break it to you buying season tickets isn't mandatory. In addition, not every donation is given ANONYMOUS without receiving any recognition in return (i.e. just writing a check).

Never heard of a ****tail party asking for $500.00 per plate donation? It comes with a meal.

Never heard of a attending a speaker for $100.00? It comes with the chance to hear them speak.

This is how it works with season tickets. Purchase the tickets + Donate = Season Tickets

Also, not sure if your aware that UM doesn't come close to selling out for season tickets. Anyone is pretty much able to get tickets to any game (single game tickets) without paying any donation. I applaud the people who pay the donation to the program because it isn't necessary to get SOMETHING without DONATING.

Curious…what's you season ticket price for the year and what's your "donation" dollar amount?

that list is old.......

That's not the point.

The point is that Token has such a big problem with bomb apparently that he had to run over here and post information when he really doesn't care about Shalala at all. Rustled as *** for whatever reason.

Ya that is it. You are right I don't have a dog in this fight, but I know bull**** when I see it. If the OP wasn't such a condescending douche with his approach i wouldn't have posted anything. He doesn't want a discussion...he just wants to declare his opinion is fact and anyone who disagrees is not a fan. He deserves to be slapped around.

My guess is the proceeds will go STRAIGHT to the hospital aka another sink hole (ironic) rather then some profitable entity.

Oh they make plenty profit off their hospital

Not sure if serious?

Just because something is labeled 'not for profit' doesn't mean they don't make money. The NFL is a not for profit org. You'd have to be really bad at running a hospital to not make money from it.

He used the word PROFIT for the hospital. As in Revenues > Expenses. It has nothing to do with our status on our tax return. I am just talking about the hospital. The hospital is making REVENUES but that doesn't mean we're making PROFIT.

There is a pretty good article about some of the issues involved. That isn't to say we can't right the ship and make this PROFITABLE.

Well, there's another part of the university she's failing at.

Maybe only 2 or 3 these schools in the list below have an ounce of the football history or tradition that Miami has. Almost all of them have **** all over Shalalalalala 30 million spending "spree"

the list below is a few years old. Many of these schools have engaged in more spending since then.

Arizona: In the midst of a $378 million north end zone expansion at Arizona Stadium that will add about 7,000 seats.

Arkansas: Recently broke ground on a new, $35 million football operations center.

Baylor: In beginning stages of building new stadium at estimated cost of $250 million.

Boise State: Recently broke ground on a new, $22 million football complex.

California: Completely renovating Memorial Stadium at an estimated cost of $321 million. As of April, the school had raised $35 million with a goal of $270 million in donations by summer 2013.

Florida State: Currently raising funds for new indoor practice facility, with hopes of breaking ground this fall.

Iowa: In phase one of a two-part, $57 million plan to build a new practice facility and operations building.

Kansas State: Has embarked on $75 million project to upgrade west side of Bill Snyder Family Stadium.

LSU: Recently approved $100 million expansion of Tiger Stadium, bringing capacity close to 100,000 seats.

Louisville: Has begun fundraising for a $7.5 million, 18,000-foot addition to its football complex.

Michigan State: Installing new $10 million scoreboard at Spartans Stadium that will be largest in the state.

Mississippi State: Expected to open new, $25 million football complex in January.

Nebraska: Finishing a $63.5 million expansion of the east side of Memorial Stadium that will add about 6,000 seats.

Oklahoma State: Construction underway on a $16 million indoor practice facility, plus new outdoor fields that will cost $3 million.

Ohio State: Spending $7 million for new scoreboard and improved sound system and other touches at Ohio Stadium.

Syracuse: Upgrading locker rooms and other team areas at a cost of $5 million.

Tennessee: In final stages of a $45 million new football complex that will contain 145,000 square feet.

TCU: Expected to complete $164 million expansion and renovation to Amon G. Carter Stadium in time for this year's season opener.

USC: Scheduled to open the $70 million, 110,000-square foot John McKay Center this summer; complex includes locker rooms, training areas, football offices and a two-story video board.

Utah: Coaches are working in trailers as a new, $30 million football complex is being built.

Virginia: Planning $13 million indoor practice facility.

Virginia Tech: Has announced plans to build a $20 million indoor practice facility.

Washington: Work is ongoing on a $250 million renovation of Husky Stadium.

Wisconsin: In beginning stages of an $86 million upgrade to locker rooms, weight training and academic areas at Camp Randall Stadium, which also got new turf this summer.

You're confusing the commitment of boosters/alumni vs the commitment of the school. Big difference.

that list is old.......

Yes it is. I noted that in the thread. Like Riddler said it isn't really the point, and in fact many of those schools have spent more since that list was created.

1) there is more to commitment to a sport than just spending money on facilities. It is certainly part of the makeup but not the end all.

2) dropping 30-40 million over 10 or 15 years is certainly not enough to declare commitment is a fact and all those who disagree are stupid and not fans.

All those campaigns are initiated by the school. How many campaigns have been initiated by UM for the football team?

Are you in the medical field? Or have family in the medical field?

Are you familiar with what is going on with OUR hospital?

Yea i am, and i can tell you what the hospital makes can be piggybacked back to the school and be labeled as none profit

WTF are you talking about?

I am telling you our hospital has issues. That is all. Read about it.

http://www.miamiherald.com/2012/07/22/2918375/um-med-schools-big-ambitions-led.html

This has nothing to do with our TAX STATUS.

I thought you were mentioning earlier that the hospital does nothing for the school? Maybe i misunderstood your post

No worries and this was not my point. This hospital has been a major source of issues for the school since we have acquired and expanded.

My point is that because of the hospital being in it's current state, many other projects lose focus.

Recently we just sold the following:

http://www.miamiherald.com/2014/07/15/4237951/um-sells-precious-land.html
http://www.bizjournals.com/southflo...g-unveiled-for-university-of-miami-s-big.html

We owned the land (only 80 Acres) for DECADES, we could have done something with it for another cause. That is my point. I wonder where the money will go.

I will concede that previous administration sucked as bad and maybe worse. BUT Donna did nothing while the collapse happened. I am glad something is being done now but you ask to much for us to ignore the pass 15 years. From the great teams ever assembled to laughing stock on her watch. That will take a lot of making up. These latest little, and I mean, little actions are bare at best. For her offenses, I want nothing short of our own stadium. The fact that Foote and others were idiots does not absolve her. It does however show what a debt we owe to our old players and coaches. They did this. No other university has that tradition. THE U was built by the young men who played here. Not donors, state money or administrators. That is the difference between THE U and everyone else. ThaDont is why we say, "It's a Cane thing and you wouldn't understand!" Donna got a lot more making up to do before diehard alums who were in the OB for decades will tip our hats to her.

Uhealth is a joke in the medical field down here, i went there recently to check it out first hand and it was poorly ran, what they do have is that they incorporate some well known doctors but they arent exclusive to them, better off goin to baptist *cough* *cough* but they do get brakes and can use what they make from that for the college, for a athletic standpoint the new sports rehab departmnet that was shown in the canes cuts not too long ago was made because of the Uhealth system

Don't pretend to speak for diehard alums. As I completely disagree with your assessment and the ignorant attacks on Shalala, and I'm a diehard alum and lifelong fan of the football team.

I don't disagree at all with those saying the admin hasn't show the commitment necessary to the football program, I think we have seen an increase in spending especially since we hired Golden. Its a start, but thats all it is, just a start.

I don't agree with however, that one of the things we need to spend money on is an indoor practice facility. Its not needed, we don't have that many practices cancelled due to lightning, and it takes away a huge advantage of training in the heat.

Its comparable to training in New Mexico and other similar climates, where the air pressure has an intense impact on your breathing. U have and added advantage of training in those types of climates.

Hunter's situation was unfortunate, and one that happens in other parts of the country. Its certainly not a reason to build an indoor facility, however it should keep us more vigilant in making sure everyone is hydrated and getting the necessary breaks during practice.

Here is video of everyones beloved savior Tommy Moffitt training these boys in the intense heat and sand pits of green tree.

It's pretty easy to initiate a campaign when you're at a school that has a large alumni base…not to mention when you own your stadium. Knock out the stadium renovations from that list and the numbers are much more pedestrian and in-line with UM's spending.

OP's tone says a lot more about her than it does about me. I would respond but I'm above the fray

One of OPs worst threads ever created...if not THE worst. LOL at talking about Miami Dolphins upgrades and some other b/s upgrades. We cant even get upgrades right, how are we gonna get the defense right?

Thanks comma donna.
