The U Administration's commitment to Miami football...

Looks like the U is about to make another killing in land sales here in Sarasota county selling another piece of protected land, this was on the news last night

My guess is the proceeds will go STRAIGHT to the hospital aka another sink hole (ironic) rather then some profitable entity.

Oh they make plenty profit off their hospital

Not sure if serious?

Are you in the medical field? Or have family in the medical field?

An indoor facility like this is plenty nice and tons of high schools have something similar around here. We're (miami) 15 years late on it.

Thats pretty sad UCF has an indoor facility and we dont. they dont even win in anything except for last year.

Do u understand the concept of a state school versus a private institution?? Also, some of the benefits of a state school??

Not to mention how much bigger UCF is then Miami.

Comments like this just sound so naive.
I understand that but USF doesn't have a indoor football facility. FAU? FIU? Which all have football programs and are state schools. I'm saying it's sad because UM have received alot of money. Don't let private school fool you. There is no way in **** they should be behind on this.

All those football programs are less established then UCF. U also understand how absolutely crazy ppl are about high school football in Texas?? What high school in florida has an indoor facility?? There is nothing more important in texas then football, some of those athletic departments have huge budgets and boosters.

Back to my question in a post above.

"Why would we want an indoor facility when practicing in the heat and humidity has always given us an edge in conditioning?? 4th quarter used to be our quarter because of the year round heat they train in."

Well USF is up there as far as establishment. They were #2 in the country at one point along time ago. they have been producing NFL players. but the point is i understand they are less established but his argument was they are a public school so thats why. im simplying putting facts that its up to schools if they want it bad enough.

I agree about conditioning part. but recruits love facilities and if you can sell them on that. they will be more willing to come. and Its about players safety now more then anything. what happen to Hunter was terrible. the will want to prevent that in the future. we will get there but we have to take baby steps. upgrading to turf was a huge accomplishment.

I think people fail to realize that certain things are possible but fail to see the priority (from the Admin) in obtaining those things. In fact, it is scary the level that people go to defend these foolish beliefs that (a) they can't be done, and (b) everything is great!

It'll happen as soon as you cut UM a check.

Already cut them one for my season tickets, champ.

That's payment for goods/services…not cutting a check.

There is a DONATION on top of that.

Donation by name alone. It's pretty much a charge for the goods/services as you don't have an option to remove the donated amount. They can split the charge and call it 50% ticket 50% donation or how ever they want.

A true donation is one that is not "mandatory".

Exactly. Write a check that isn't directly connected to you receiving something in return like season tickets.

Just because something is labeled 'not for profit' doesn't mean they don't make money. The NFL is a not for profit org. You'd have to be really bad at running a hospital to not make money from it.

That **** has been at the helm for 15 years now.

Her first priority was building a basketball stadium.
Her second was joining a basketball conference.
Her third was signing a deal to have the team play 45 mins away.
Her fourth was hiring young, controllable coaches who would put behavior and grades first
Her fifth was hiring a proven basketball coach.

And now she's finally raising money to bring facilities up to standard.

In fifteen years, she has made essentially one commitment to football, which is an effort to make the property and assets of the athletic department up to 2014 standards.

Give me Tad Foote any day over Shalala.

OP is definitely the biggest douche I have ever seen on these boards. Arguably the most condescending person I have ever encountered.

How dare any of you cane fans disagree with the OP! If you do, well, you aren't canes fans! It was written and OP has decided.

******* clown.

oh and LMAO at "supporting the dolphin stadium upgrades" as proof of commitment.

What ******* choice is there, you dumb ************? You think she is going to tell Ross "You know, I don't really like these upgrades so I am going to take the football team and go play at.........well.......Can we come back?"

Praising Shalala for this new project would be equivalent to praising a dead beat dad who finally offers to pay some of his owed child support after 15 years of ignoring it.

He used the word PROFIT for the hospital. As in Revenues > Expenses. It has nothing to do with our status on our tax return. I am just talking about the hospital. The hospital is making REVENUES but that doesn't mean we're making PROFIT.

There is a pretty good article about some of the issues involved. That isn't to say we can't right the ship and make this PROFITABLE.

Maybe only 2 or 3 these schools in the list below have an ounce of the football history or tradition that Miami has. Almost all of them have **** all over Shalalalalala 30 million spending "spree"

I hate to break it to you buying season tickets isn't mandatory. In addition, not every donation is given ANONYMOUS without receiving any recognition in return (i.e. just writing a check).

Never heard of a ****tail party asking for $500.00 per plate donation? It comes with a meal.

Never heard of a attending a speaker for $100.00? It comes with the chance to hear them speak.

This is how it works with season tickets. Purchase the tickets + Donate = Season Tickets

Also, not sure if your aware that UM doesn't come close to selling out for season tickets. Anyone is pretty much able to get tickets to any game (single game tickets) without paying any donation. I applaud the people who pay the donation to the program because it isn't necessary to get SOMETHING without DONATING.
