The same finish

Outside of Cam's miracles, what was Dawson's achievement??? Nothing!
Run game improvements, spreading the ball around more. Getting the tight ends involved. Redzone play calling improved.

As far Cristobal, he got work to do defensively clearly , but he’s implemented a powerful running game with a dynamic passing game. Now we know we have to go get qb1 and fix the defense(which starts with getting rid of Guidry and co)

Maybe Emory is better in practice (support has told me he's really good), but that veil has been pulled off.
This is the disinformation I posted about early in this thread. It’s clear he’s not good in practice otherwise we wouldn’t have called the plays we did when he was put into the game.

So why were they pushing this narrative? This isn’t Mario coming out to press and inflating his players. And this narrative hasn’t just popped up this month. It’s been ongoing this season. There was no reason to be talking about a backup QB when we had the heisman front runner.

This School, the Athletic Department, Boosters, and everything that comes with it is just not serious about football like the fan base is. This University and it's athletic programs will have the stench of Shalala on it for years to come.

I have said before that I will hold out judgement for Mario until next year. After that, if what I think will happen, I will temper my expectations about Hurricane football. You guys keep talking about scheme and coaches. This is a champion's mentality vs a mid mentality.

We are victims of the enormous amount of success we had for three decades. No one really wants to work to get back to that because they think putting the helmet with the U on it automatically makes you a champion. Michael Irvin said it best, it doesn't.

It's not the players. It's the money people that hire these awful coaches because the coaches are at a discount or because they are "Miami" guys. I am not sure if you have looked at "Miami" guys lately. Our Pro and College teams are driven by them. Oh, both pro and college are awful.

I will judge the next QB unfairly because of how good Cam was. But I will also know that Miami is just Miami. It's MID now. Pro and College. We have a Head Football coach for the Dolphins that wears Capri pants on the sideline. We have a Head Coach for the Hurricanes that talks about "Standards" and "Process".

This is not a player thing. You either want to win or you don't. That starts at the top.
The fan base doesn't attend games and other than a select few doesn't contribute.

Emory can not be the starting QB here flat out! And any fan who says otherwise, it’s a freaking idiot! Point blank!

I laugh now to hide the pain so it isn't affecting me much, still it's frustrating. We can blame the assistant coaches all day but it starts at the top. There is no "fixing" this unfortunately. We all know what needs to happen.

One assistant I will continue to rag on, because I think he's getting a free check, is Feld. I'll give him credit since we didn't have any serious injuries but our players always look undersized and slow.

There seems to have been a coordinated disinformation campaign regarding Emory. I base this on Dmoney and other insiders saying for a while that he has a lot of fans within the program (staff and players) who think he could be the guy. Reportedly one of Mirabals relatives posts on Ferman’s site and said he’s looked really good.

It’s clear from the first drive they don’t believe this, so why is this messaging been pushed most of the season?
I’ve been calling BS on that since the beginning. Anyone who watched him play in those two games against Clemson and FSU, could see clear as day, that this kid is not a Miami caliber starting quarterback. He’s a group of five quarterback at Best. Better get someone in the portal!

We are improving on multiple fronts under Cristobal but as you said, critical season in year 4. I’m okay with this year(which should have been more) but the defense has serious issues that needs to be addressed starting with Guidry who continues to have his unit look unprepared every week.
The overall talent level will be better, but I’m expecting a regression to 6 or 7 wins next year.

This quote sums up CIS to a tee.

Damien Martinez is a horse. Over 1,000 yards, 10 TDs, 6+ yards per carry. It feels like forever ago when people were saying he was the 3rd best back on the team. Sometimes it's important to trust track record.
We will lose him..wait..

Yeah I get that and I’m not wanting to get into a bashing of sources. They do what they do for the access. Dmoney has been very clear and distinct about his personal thoughts on the future QB situation vs what he’s hearing. I’m just wondering why they (the program) felt it necessary to push this narrative.
Who cares, use your eyes. Anyone that has decent vision can see as clear as Day that Emery sucked from the get-go. Anything coming out of the Hecht is pure political BS. Stop falling for it.

Mario has a similar record to Manny Diaz. That is totally unacceptable given that Mario has much more resources than Manny ever had and makes much more money too.

Mario's time is ticking....

We've gone 1-12 in Bowl games since 2008. Do you know how incredibly difficult it is to do that? I know these bowl games don't mean all that much like they used to. But when you have the recent bowl record like we do, it means a lot to win the last game of the season. The last game that some guys will ever suit up for.

On the team trajectory side. A lot will be determined by if we get a portal QB and what this years recruiting class looks like. If we have another class outside of the top 10, then I'm gonna have to start wondering if Mario is the guy.

We also can't have a unit that is god awful. In 2022 it was the offensive ineptitude, especially at OL. 2023 it was the QB position. 2024 it was the defense. If they fix the defense (and they have made the fix every year so far), then we cannot see another unit become a dumpster fire in 2025.

The most painful thing about this year is knowing that if we had just an average defense, we would have a shot at a national title.

Ok??

I attend games and I live four states away. Not every game. But a select few. I also attend games here in my state. As for not contributing, if you are buying tickets and merchandise, you contribute.

I get your point though. No argument here.

We've finished the season the same way for 20 years. Our coaches change, but this part stays the same. Another year of blowing it in November and losing December bowl games. Some thoughts from Orlando:

- Cam Ward is a legend in my book. He spotted us 31 points in a half and we still couldn't win. It was symbolic of the whole season, really.

- On Mario, my realistic expectations were a repeat of Oregon- the good and the bad. We're currently running behind that pace. We still haven't made a conference title, and we just missed a golden opportunity with an elite quarterback. Year 4 is critical and there is a ton of work that needs to be done.

- We have some smart players, but we aren't a smart team. One simple example- we're 121st in penalty yards. Iowa State is 1st.

- Not much more to say about the defense. In person, it's jarring how frantic we look pre-snap. This is Game 13. The unit is full of veterans - fourth, fifth and sixth-year players. Something isn't connecting. I'd be shocked if there aren't significant changes on that side of the ball.

- We threw for 1.9 yards per attempt in the second half. This is why I've pushed so hard for a Portal QB. My concern with Emory Williams dating back to high school is athleticism. Nothing looks fluid and easy. I continue to expect us to add a Portal QB and fast-track Luke Nickel.

- It's hard to lose when you run for over 300 yards as a team. The running game is the one area where I feel the floor has been raised significantly.

- We should be further along at linebacker after three years. That group has been average. Forget the elite guys like Vilma and DJ - a Quarterman/Pickney duo would improve our defense significantly. It's worth investing Portal money to land an impactful player here.

- JoJo Trader and Elija Lofton gave us a glimpse of what they've been doing on Greentree. I hope both are featured players in 2025. We're losing a lot of production, but a good chunk of that production can be replaced from within.

- We've been decimated by injury at corner and we were already bad there. OJ Frederique looked OK on the sideline, but when he went left the game we were forced to play Markeith Williams on an island. It's hard to oversign there- we need a lot of help.

- The silver lining for me is that there were no injuries. Thank you to all the players who have put their bodies on the line for the Canes.

It’s obvious we need a transfer QB. About 2 weeks ago you (DMoney) said that we were in a better spot regarding a QB at this point than we were last year at the same point. You mentioned that Ward was still considering the NFL and that there were many other options as opposed to this year where we have more options. Has your thinking on this changed? Many QB’s who were in the portal have already signed with other teams, this includes Mendoza.

About 2 weeks ago you (DMoney) said that we were in a better spot regarding QB this year at this point than we were last year. Considering Ward was still flirting with the NFL. Do you still feel this way? A lot of QB’s have come off the board in the past 2 weeks including Mendoza. And Emory doesn’t look like he’s our guy.

Our dline needs to be revamped. Having these big edge guys is not cutting it. We need more speed/athletic types off the edge. Booker Pickett is a guy who should have played alot more

Our pass rush has been a massive disappointment, on par with the dbs who have disappointed the most this year. Just hurts more due to having legit talent on the dline
We just need to fast track and develop the **** out the young troops there

This will never change. Most of the schools that have a religious following, also have nothing else to do. Miami has and endless list of activities and sports teams. It's a blessing and a curse. I will say however that overall I was disappointed with the fans. We have been crying about the product on the field and when we had a generational talent at QB this year, the seats still weren't filled up.
