The same finish

The only difference between this year and those other disappointing finishes is that we were close this year and kept hurting ourselves/beating ourselves.

Those other years we just got dominated at the end of the season.

This year it was 3 losses by a total of 10 points and we were clearly the better team in all 3 games. Actually if you just look at the stats it looks like we won all 3 games.

No one was trying to get Dawson fired last year. They averaged 31 points and more than 400 yards of total offense...with TVD throwing 12 interceptions. His offenses have been great at every single one of his stops.

Please stop with the nonsense.
Agree. Dawson isn't the problem. He calls a very good game. Can't lay the Tyler Van Dyke thing on him. TVD would throw it no where near our guys.

The RBs were oversold? We had one of the best running games in the country. When people on here were overreacting to Martinez’s slow start I maintained he was the guy.

The DBs were oversold? Everybody said they were a weakness. The only DB who got hyped in fall camp was OJ Frederique.

Speaking for myself, my big miss from camp was thinking that: (1) the DL would be a strength; and that (2) Mauigoa would repeat his success at linebacker.

And even then, that was based more on prior performance in real games than anything on Greentree.

RB1: There is a current portal discussion on RBs. After Martinez, there is a big gap that many refuse to admit. Evidence: what happened last night when Martinez went out, first and goal from the 7 and Fletcher and Lyle don’t have enough juice to close the game out. The next drive, no Martinez, 3 and out. If Martinez declares, we do not have a true RB1 to date.

DBs: “Defensive backs do not win or lose you football games” was said here. Glad Kam and Williams were gone. #7 and #25. Mario is going to take this cycle personal for DBs.

LBs: they are all slow. Hyped up as the way Miami LBs should look.

Martinez looked like a top 5-7 RB nationally last night.

Fletcher and Lyle need alot of development, and improvement this offseason.

Martinez is a stud. But I remember halfway through the season, I had to defend the decision to keep starting him. “The coaches are burying our most explosive back. Stop this narrative to defend bad Portal evaluations!”

The reason I’m hesitant to spend big on a back is because we need to spend money elsewhere. Lyle and Fletcher are gifted, Top 10 recruits who would make big money if they hit the Portal. There are other positions that need much more work.

You do have a RB1 is the room. It's Lyle. If you expected him to play like RB1 as a true freshman then I don't know what to tell ya. He's RB1 and that's within the building, not an outside opinion.

And I'm the one who made that statement regarding DB's...
And I said CORNERS.
As mediocre as the CB's have been, that's not Miami's main issue on defense.
It's the inside of their back-7 that's killing them. (Safeties, Nickel, Linebacker)

Crazy thing is...

As much as everybody is beating on Mario right now...

He was a functional defense away from being our lord and savior. If he has even a decent defense this season, we're at worst a 1-loss team. (offense struggled in the one game where we actually played some defense)

THIS was the year to make waves. Generational QB, best offense in school history and a weak schedule. 🤷🏻‍♂️

This 2024 defense has changed the entire perception of Mario's Miami tenure... and may have changed the trajectory of this program. I would imagine that's GOTTA be understood within the building. And knowing how much of a savage Mario can be, I'd be shocked if the defensive staff survives this.

I wish someone would be savage with man tatas and let him know his performance after three years here is unacceptable. Where is Radakovich?

Knowing their relationship and takes on schematics it’s not fair to judge JT. He’s coaching a scheme he doesn’t align with.
JT pushed back on a lot of stuff we did defensively. Guidry and JT were not big fans of each other and that’s putting it lightly.

JT, HOFer, multi millionaire, has incredible work ethic and busts his *** when he doesn’t need to. Every time I visited the IPF this season, JT was there working. Can’t say the same for other people.

We went from what 120 to like 25-30 with essentially the same personnel? Pretty impressive in hindsight

I heard the complete opposite.

Guys, Iowa State would simply add a gap on the LOS and our LB's looked like they had seen a Martian.

This game pulled back the veil for me. How we could have a team so unprepared they didn't know how to spill and fill an extra gap at this point was just beyond comprehension.

This isn't even commenting on what happened to our defender when the #1 WR would motion into a stack or bunch. Defenders looked like windmills trying to point and figure out what to do.

That is install stuff. Week three of camp stuff. When you're walking through your coverage concepts and calls you're working through that. Going into a game you should already have that memorized where you're going if each receiver motions.

Allowing that to happen is 90% on coaching for not having them prepared and 10% on players for not caring enough to be prepared. Personally, if I were actually good enough to have been a player at Miami, I would be embarrassed to allow myself to be so unprepared despite what the coaches are doing or not doing.

Speaking of coaching, I have mentioned they get to see every practice rep. They get to see scrimmages for players who don't get into games (surely we scrimmage the redshirts etc. on Sunday or sometime). To see all of that and to decide not to throw major dollars at Miller Moss, or lots of other QB's not named John Mateer, is frightening.

Maybe Emory is better in practice (support has told me he's really good), but that veil has been pulled off.

To me, with the benefit of free agency and lots of dollars in a Collective, you cannot be a serious program and ever be in a position that Emory Williams takes another real snap here. It's not personal. Just like any serious program would never allow Lance Guidry to coach another snap at Miami. Both might go on to true success elsewhere, but it didn't work out here and Mario's job is to make the hard decisions. The adult decisions from here.

Let's see it, Mario.
QFT. Was probably called a mope and told overreacting early in season when this was clear as day this was coaching malpractice.

He co signed the defense, lost both safeties and didnt do anything to bring talent in from portal. We really watched #7 be completely oblivious to safety play and do whatever the **** he wants and never get benched to never play again. Dude was ******* up from game 1 to last game. How do you go all in with QB and then just let both safeties walk with no plan and say Jaden got us! :snoopfacepalm: The whole defense was confused. We playing 10 players, 12 players, cant line up, cant set an edge, simple jet sweeps killing us..
