The same finish

Guys, Iowa State would simply add a gap on the LOS and our LB's looked like they had seen a Martian.

This game pulled back the veil for me. How we could have a team so unprepared they didn't know how to spill and fill an extra gap at this point was just beyond comprehension.

This isn't even commenting on what happened to our defender when the #1 WR would motion into a stack or bunch. Defenders looked like windmills trying to point and figure out what to do.

That is install stuff. Week three of camp stuff. When you're walking through your coverage concepts and calls you're working through that. Going into a game you should already have that memorized where you're going if each receiver motions.

Allowing that to happen is 90% on coaching for not having them prepared and 10% on players for not caring enough to be prepared. Personally, if I were actually good enough to have been a player at Miami, I would be embarrassed to allow myself to be so unprepared despite what the coaches are doing or not doing.

Speaking of coaching, I have mentioned they get to see every practice rep. They get to see scrimmages for players who don't get into games (surely we scrimmage the redshirts etc. on Sunday or sometime). To see all of that and to decide not to throw major dollars at Miller Moss, or lots of other QB's not named John Mateer, is frightening.

Maybe Emory is better in practice (support has told me he's really good), but that veil has been pulled off.

To me, with the benefit of free agency and lots of dollars in a Collective, you cannot be a serious program and ever be in a position that Emory Williams takes another real snap here. It's not personal. Just like any serious program would never allow Lance Guidry to coach another snap at Miami. Both might go on to true success elsewhere, but it didn't work out here and Mario's job is to make the hard decisions. The adult decisions from here.

Let's see it, Mario.

Oddly enough DT was everyone’s concern (along with CB)

DE was supposed to be the strength

If anything, the DT spot far outplayed the DEs
Still think our DL is good. Once film got out on our passing D teams were getting the ball out quick rest of season. Easy game plan for opposing OC's

Horton is better than the LSU kid.

RB is fine bc Lyle is our best back. well miss Martinez tho bc he was a complete back but Lyle is a stud imo.

OL will be fine under Mario and AM.

TEs is a weakness with depth but Lofton is good.
TE hs a weakness because we ran a lot of 2&3 TE sets. If you go back 2 years, we used McCoy at TE so I could see us running out a smaller OT to play TE.

If the lsu kid is healthy, I think he is better than Horton or at least a push.

I really hope Martinez returns. Lyle needs 10-15lbs to reach that status. Fletch isn’t bad.

I’d just say given the talent and NIL investments the DEs were supposed to mask the secondary concerns it was a major disappointment to me

Only one that did anything at DE was Mesidor and we had him playing DT most of the season

Our dline needs to be revamped. Having these big edge guys is not cutting it. We need more speed/athletic types off the edge. Booker Pickett is a guy who should have played alot more

Our pass rush has been a massive disappointment, on par with the dbs who have disappointed the most this year. Just hurts more due to having legit talent on the dline

I don't think anyone expected the secondary to THIS bad
Amen brother. It’s almost impossible

And the LBs. Look I know Mauigoa has his faults but you really trying to tell me him, Wes, Popo etc all have no idea how to play defense?

Are we just THAT unlucky recruiting LBs? We couldn’t do that if we tried

Mario could go 14-0 , be up 10 in the last game with 3 mins left , call 3 timeouts in a row, punt on second down cause analytics, take a safety from the 20 yard line, lose the game and talk about progress at the presser

I agree. I think every coach that comes in here falls in love with Florida athletes but they don't do proper player evaluation. They recruit great athletes but not intelligent and coachable football players that fit in a scheme. Iowa State does not have better athletes than Miami, but what they do have are smart and coachable football guys. Contrary to popular belief, smart players tend to beat physically gifted ones most of the time. Miami needs a coach/gm that really can create a culture change. Not a guy like Mario who recruits based on athletic ability in hopes their ability makes him look like he knows what he is doing on gameday. It worked with Cam Ward. It didn't anywhere else.

I remember the AL Golden quote "you need star players, but you also need kids that shovel the coal"....he obviously failed.
I think there is an entire ecosystem system that surrounds our players that whispers in their ear. I think our failed coaches haven't beem able to control it.

The RBs were oversold? We had one of the best running games in the country. When people on here were overreacting to Martinez’s slow start I maintained he was the guy.

The DBs were oversold? Everybody said they were a weakness. The only DB who got hyped in fall camp was OJ Frederique.

Speaking for myself, my big miss from camp was thinking that: (1) the DL would be a strength; and that (2) Mauigoa would repeat his success at linebacker.

And even then, that was based more on prior performance in real games than anything on Greentree.
I expected so much more from the DL but to be fair national people had our DL as one of the best in the country coming into the year. I thought they’d help protect the cb’s more.

It's pretty obvious it's scheme/ coaching on that side of the ball. Personnel is a problem but I didn't see that being the biggest

I’m convinced it’s the scheme. Too much stunts and dropping into coverage

I never agreed with 3 inside , that was an absolute idiotic move. He’s too light in the *** for early downs inside. The DL was so shockingly bad , I’d never expected what I saw this year.
No pass rushing integrity, couldn’t converge on sacks. We made every team look like they had Mike Vick at qb with how their qb’s kept making our defense miss sacks
