I appreciate taking your time and making the right decision, especially hiring such a pivotal position.

However, this is not a cfo or vp of sales job that could have 1,000 or more qualified candidates. This is a job with MAYBE 50 qualified people in the WORLD!! And out of those 50 at least 25 are an instant cross off due to current employment, location or wrong personality. So that leave MAXIMUM 25 people. Even at 1 per day (which is ridiculous in itself) that is less than a month. Then cut it down to 5??? Bring each in for a 2 day interview. That is another 10 days. Add in 5 days off. That is 40 days total! Maybe another 4 days of negotiations? 44 days and that is if you really need 5 people to have 2 day interviews and they actually want to come.

This process is flawed beyond reasonable expectations. When you break it down it is actually sickening

Holy hypotheticals.

I understand where you're coming from though. The pool of candidates doesn't seem to be large enough to justify the length of the search. Plus if you're in coaching circles I'd imagine you should be ahead of the curve on some top targets.

Mario is getting rejected yet again by a mid tier playcaller? Say it ain’t so! This is, what, the 3rd or 4th time by the same guy? It’s time for Ponce-Coley co-OC.

Honest question. Saban just hired a coordinator yesterday. That’s a month away from spring practices. Does that make him incompetent as well?
lol saban lost his OC and struck out on another, but still moved relatively quick on securing his back up (in a matter of days when the UW OC said no).

both his hires took less time than us even if you say Goulding and BOB were out back in season like gattis was even tho Goulding still coached a bowl game while we didnt have a bowl. im not hard on mario trying to find a new DC bc this just happened and wasnt really expected. the OC one is a whole diff story bc that was preplanned and we still didnt have a legiitmate plan in place. this has been one of the most dysfunctional off field coach/admin decision making process ive seen and it isnt like we can excuse it with wins bc we didnt win w this **** plan in place the first time around.

Outside of the fact that his 7 chips make him somewhat beyond reproach there is the whole part about state of each program. Bama has been Saban’s baby is 07. Mario just got here and has to build a program while Saban has it running like a fine tuned machine. When that happened, you are afforded to make last second decisions, more so than a program that is in shambles.
