Kentucky was 58th in offense the year before him.

Fell to 77th with him. Fired his ***.

Improved to 56th the next year without him.

He sucks so much.

And it’s crazy to hear people say, “I don’t want Streeter, he got fired after one season at Clemson. But I would take the dude that got fired after one year at Kentucky, and had no history of offensive success anywhere he has been.”
Which is why I don’t want either.

The names I’ve heard that are legit candidates for OC are a couple solid / ok hires and one that would go over like a wet fart . There’s still a wild card and you’ll know why I said that if it ends up being him. I have no clue if there’s a mystery guy Or not.

Arroyo in his second season calling plays as OC at Oregon ended up 19th in OF+ in 2019 (after ending up 41st in 2018). Does that make him a good name, in your view? Why or why not?

I'll hang up and listen.

It makes him a good name in that he'll at least be on the same page as Cristobal in terms of the type of offense that Cristobal wants to run. That's no small advantage. If we're down to Nuss or Coley, then I'd much rather see Cristobal hire Arroyo. Right now this entire OC hiring process looks like a clusterf***. If we went all through this just to end up with Arroyo (or worse, Nuss or Coley), that's not good. Not good at all.

They were 41 His first season. 41 again his second season. 19 his third season.

Do I the 19th best offense is enough of a payoff for your average offenses, when you had an elite QB talent all three seasons? No.

Oregon was 9th in offense the year before Arroyo, having to start a true FR Herbert for stretches of the season.

That’s like saying if I have a plate with dog ****, chicken **** and rabbit ****, I’m going with the swallowable rabbit **** bc it’s easier.

Im taking Arroyo over the others too but if that’s the best you can score at OC with this financial backing, it’s a bad bad sign for you as a head coach and program CEO moving forward. Bad sign.

How was Houston with him?

Actually they do.

That’s the point of them. They attempt to tell the whole story, but adding context. And that’s what context is, it’s story telling.

“Yards” doesn’t tell the whole story. It literally just tells you yards.
Analytics will never tell the whole story

You toy with our emotions on purpose you sick 'fək.

I can respect your abject cruelty, in fact, admire you for it.

People run to stats.com and that’s how they justify a OC / dc‘s quality. Dawson brought in an air raid offense but then had to run the ball to death because that’s what Stoops does. They ran for **** near 2000 yards that year.

He’s more of a caveman than Mario. Even Neal Browns offenses were meh there. Eddie Gran as well . I‘d prefer not to hire Dawson but he’s not as bad as some are leading on, there’s context.

Has anyone done a deep dive on why Mario loves the Rams O and what that might mean about what his goals are?

Taggert called the plays in what you are calling Arroyo's first season (as Co-OC). As the OC calling plays, he inherited the 41st ranked OF+, maintained in at 41 his first season as playcalling OC, then improved it into the top 20 in his second season.

And it seems you are suggesting elite talent, at least at QB, can provide additional, relevant context not included in OF+? That's interesting. Does the converse hold true? Does subpar talent at QB provide additional, relevant context for a poor OF+ rating? And does "elite talent" at other positions provide further relevant context on OF+ (or just QB)? And if so, does the converse (subpar talent) also provide additional, relevant context?

I agree wholeheartedly with all of this. Arroyo would be a disappointing name to me. But the longer this drags (and the more names like Nuss and Coley stick around), the better he looks. Though it would still be a bad look.

So that’s the reason you don’t hire Dawson.

He’s a known Neanderthal appeaser.
