Golden wouldn’t have gone on a 10-0 run with his guys,

10-0? Maybe not. But he went on a 7-0 run in 2013, including a win over #12 Florida. Miami then got flattened by a FSU team that ended up winning the national championship. And don't fool yourself into thinking that 10-0 run was dominant- it took miracles to beat GT and FSU, and we almost lost to a 1 win UNC team.

Imo

If Candle wanted the job it’s his. If he passes I’d roll with “ other “. I’d be willing to bet there’s a name / names out there that none of us have a clue about. The names being leaked out have interviewed and have obviously been approved to do so. I know one name that no media has entertained or paid much attention to. I’ve posted his name in passing once or twice. I know that from people in coaching circles , he‘d been contacted by UM.

The remainder of that list would be Dawson then Streeter. Once again that’s going off your list.

so there's a chance . . .

Was at the florida game. That year at least had hope.

Crazy thing is the offense improved a ton with Streeter and he still got fired.

2021 with Tony Elliott as OC
Scoring 82nd Total 100th
DJ 13 Total TDs 10INTs 55%

2022 with Brandon Streeter as OC
Scoring 30th Total 48th
DJ 29 Total TDs 7INTs 62%

Maybe they only fired him because they knew they could get Garrett Riley? It all happened pretty fast
I see what some have posted, including Cribby, about Streeter but I honestly wouldn't mind if he was the guy. Your stats provide good evidence about his skills as an OC even with a historically bad QB like DJU. And he's been around a winning program for a long time. I know we all want to do better than "we could do worse than...." but I actually would be fairly excited with this guy.

Just thinking out loud but does anyone remember if we bought Steele out from Maryland? Did he sign that contract or was it only a verbal agreement?

Reason I ask is that so far (if we bought Steele out), Mario has bought out 3/3 coordinator positions (Gattis from Michigan, Steele from Maryland, and Guidry from Tulane). So not that we can open the options to literally anyone, but more so that we don’t have to necessarily cross off coordinators currently employed.

I have this hunch we’ll get someone out of left field from the college ranks.

Two of the guys mentioned have either had their schemes, production or work ethic ripped apart by the "football guys" who have posted in this thread. Sometimes more than one of those things. The two guys the thread is feeling most ok with.

Comforting.

I would be okay with it, he's supposedly a great recruiter and is a **** good QB coach. The one thing that does concern me is he was with Dabo for 7 years and finally got a chance to call plays and despite the offense improving a lot from 2021 he still got fired. Clemson fans celebrated the higher but their expectations are a Top 15 Caliber offense and anything short of that is a failure. Why did Dabo fire him? Was it straight up for incompetence or was it because they had a chance to upgrade to the hottest OC in college football and took it?

I’m trying to confirm how serious the dialogue was with Andy Ludwig this round. I know it

I've said many times on CIS, if Al could've just moved past his Davidian-branch-cult-like fealty to Donuts, he had the potential to eventually turn things around here.

Not unlike Area 51 and the Bermuda Triangle, it's one of the planet's great mysteries.

If Folden stuck around the Football Ops Center would be a 7-story McDonald’s.

Honestly this is the guy that would make most sense. Runs what Mario likes to run just like Gattis but is actually competent at his job. Those Utah offenses are no joke and are tough as nails.

I find it interesting that Ludwig’s name is now publicly linked to Notre Dame…. So the assumption that he’d never leave Utah isn’t true

Funny we talk alot about extenuating circumstances affecting coaching changes when it comes to Miami but we see somebody getting fired someplace else and immediately say "well that guy must suck"

If I remember correctly, Manny mentioned the name first as one to watch, but Ferman broke the actual hire. So both correct.

Correct, and that's the point.

To turn it into "Ferman has inside info" is to also ignore how hard he pushed Nussmeier as an OC candidate. That's all.

Any one of these guys can find a nut once in a while, or be "first" once a year.

But @Cribby has the much higher batting average, even if he expected Campanile over Guidry.
