NFL head coaching searches too. Most of the interviews are not for the HC positionJust because some of these names are interviewing doesn’t mean it’s for play caller.

Unlikely, we have a couple of candidates interviewing this weekend.
It’s not the majority of CIS. It’s the usual suspects and a few more in this case.CIS: "we want a young innovative coach that's had success!"
Mario: "ok there's this guy who has been an OC since 24 years old and QB coach since 22, OC at Miss State (Mullen tree, who everyone fellates here) where Prescott and Fitzgerald set records leading the SEC in total offense, OC at Houston 436 yards per game, OC at UF coaching Franks to a 143.3 efficiency (a miracle) - Trask to 7,184 yards 68 TDs (led FBS final year and now can't learn a playbook) and 15 INTs (not to mention Pitts and Toney) scoring 39.8 PPG and currently coaches an NFL MVP candidate in the Superbowl learning under an innovative young HC and coveted for an NFL promotion." "Oh, and he's a pretty good recruiter (.90 average)"
CIS: "this sounds too risky...."
"Yeah, give me someone that has already done it on this level and done it well, CONSISTENTLY. Is that too much to ask?"
Every hire is a risk. Dude is 35. His best days are ahead of him. Calculated risks.
So, we done with the Candle talk? I can't go back and read all these pages.
Could be worse, on 247 some guys are arguing they want Randy Shannon for LB coach so…I swear this board has the same conversations about the same people exactly repeated every week

To be fair there just aren't a lot of slam dunk hires out there. Usually proven OCs who have had legit long term success are either HCs, NFL OCs or are OCs at major power 5 school's and aren't going anywhere. Then there is everyone else, and that doesn't mean everyone else wants the job so you got to subtract from even that list. Unfortunately this is what you get when you are building a program with a CEO style HC. Really there have been only 3 Legit slam dunk options this off-season, Phil Longo who wasn't coming here, Garrett Riley who very likely would of picked Clemson over us and Brian Johnson who we don't know is interested returning to college.
scott was fired as USFs HC. hes back as an analyst at Clemson. Streeter got fired by Dabo after 1 season. ill pass on him if hes an OC candidate.Scott was fired as OC doesn’t mean he’s not good enough to be a solid position coach…
No, he’s Veer & Shoot with Air Raid passing concepts. How’s his run game look? Believe he’s more air raid correct?
So I googled it like you suggested and here's what I came up with. This is Yost's PPG and YPG each year he's been an OC vs the same for Littrell:4 CFB QBs who Yost coached went into the 1st round of the NFL Draft..His Offense broke records not only at Utah St....but also at Missouri in both Passing and Rushing. Go Google David Yost Football, and tell me Littrell has a better resume.

Sounds like the mentality that landed us with Gattis. At this point someone more under the radar than Frost is prudent. His HC Record....and nothing else to Rave about. All this $$$$ we have now, and that's your definition of a "Great hire"??....C'mon man.
Or Streeter interviewed for the QB coach role being that the other options have experience at other positions.mario isnt dumb enough to give Coley Play calling duties. thank god nuss stuff is dying out. streeter? he just got fired bc he wasnt good enough at Clemson so now we hiring someone elses failures? pass.
if were doing the QB and separate oC thing then mario did not learn. your OC should be the QBC. it makes a huge diff when thats the case esp when trying to teach QBs your offense and ensure theyre running it the way you want it to run.Or Streeter interviewed for the QB coach role being that the other options have experience at other positions.
Think it's safe to say that our OC should be coaching QB's and we need a dedicated person at the WR spot.Just want to put out there that Shannon Dawson has coached WRs so if he’s the guy then Mario can go Streeter at QB or Coley at either position depending on how Shannon Dawson feels.
Damm Mario got catfish twice lolCandle isn't coming...
bingo.Think it's safe to say that our OC should be coaching QB's and we need a dedicated person at the WR spot.
agreed. That's kinda my point. If one of the big issues last year was the position coaches not vibing with the OC, I can't imagine us just doing that again .
he wasnt fired as OC. he was fired HC at USF. Streeter was the clemson OC that got fired after one season.Correct. A lot of people forget you can be really good at one job, but not another. A lot of outstanding coordinators that are not head coach material. A lot of outstanding position coaches that are not coordinator material (though some are actually better HC material). The reason guys are given an opportunity at a promotion is because they were good at their last job.
