The Miami Job

I have to laugh when posters say that Miami isn't a great job. Apparently if a fat fool like Mark May says something enough, people start to repeat it.

Here are the facts. Miami had three coaches IN A ROW win the national championship. The fourth guy went to the NFL before he could win his. The fifth guy won a national championship despite being incompetent. The sixth guy will never be a head coach again because he somehow failed at Miami. The seventh guy is parlaying a couple good press conferences into a raise and his dream job.

The Miami job isn't for everyone. Some people prefer Big Ten mediocrity and fake morals. But if you want to be great - historically great - there is no job with as high of a ceiling as the University of Miami.

Lost me @ Mark May says...

I blame Gary Ferman... Really I do! I actually believe Golden isn't going anywhere... The part that ****es me off the most is I just know I'll be staring at the tard D'Onofrio during spring ball wondering how the f#ck this guy is employed.

As a guy who held Alfred James Golden in high regard, I echo what DMoney says. It is, what it is

I'm disappointed, but UM will move forward and I actually see this as a great opportunity for this program

D$ I'm assuming your saying he's gone

My biggest fear now is honestly Golden staying

And to the Falcon's fan. I'm a Dolphin and I'd sacrifice my first born for Saban at the U

personally (not a bit of inside information), I think Golden just wants to listen to what PSU has to say. I think he will offer UM a chance to match, and if not, he bolts. In my mind, I think Al isn't really underhanded, and will give Miami a chance to match what PSU offers. We may not like his direction or game day decisions, but I don't think anyone can question his character and integrity.

If I am UM, if he asks for an extension (years), I would tell him pound sand. If $ to bring his salary in line with other ACC coaches, you entertain it.

If they really have already offered and he really wanted it, he would have been gone. It is clear they want him. I think he is more inclined to stay at the moment knowing what he has here and the class and such. Unless they knock his socks off with an offer he can't refuse, I believe he probably will stay, but he is interested in hearing what they have to say, hence the meeting. If they truly offer 3.5 to 4 million, and I am UM, I tell him thanks and make sure they cut the buyout check asap.

You can't fault Golden for listening. He hasn't done anything wrong in that respect. If someone is going to **** near double your salary for the same job, how many would you not listen or go for it in your profession?

I am not taking a Golden side or anything, wanting him to stay or defending him. I am just looking at it from the outside in. No emotion, just business side of it.

I am. He said from Day 1 he wasnt going to make excuses and thats all hes done.

He hates the NCAA cloud so much he is running back to Child Rapist U to coach under a "cloud" again.

That would be interesting. I still would want Butch for DC.

Disappointed is the right word. He seems more interested in upholding the legacy of a pedophile-protector than winning national championships.

Disappointment aside D$ passionately upholds the legacy of RKelly, a documented pedophile and national champion

The minute he didn't say,"hey, I got a great job at Miami and I'm committed to continuing this job of building this great program back to where it belongs. I love my alma mater but I'm the head coach at this great institution," I flipped on him

Like Bo Schembechler said,"I want a Michigan man, coaching Michigan."

Golden, to my great dismay, did not act like a Miami guy

With that, he lost me.
