I was very much impressed by the defense based on the highlights. I know it's a scrimmage, and these are just highlights but we saw the defense getting significant penetration, and having a strong push against the run as well as tackling (except for duke being duke, because lets face it thats impossible to stop). What worried me was that while the coverage wasnt as bad as last season, it still had holes. They lost the TE (Dobard) at the goal line for an easy score, and got burned (from what appeared to be late safety help). However they did look improved in this category. Good steps considering the quality of offense they are facing. They may not be an alabama quality defense, but above average (i.e. around 60th to 50th ranking) seems to be their floor right now
