Spring Practice dates are here!

Hate to say it but I can't get excited. Maybe I'm just getting older and have been through to many spring seasons and understand that utough doesn't mean ****. Every school in the nation is doing the same ****. Now if you were telling me that we are doing UCoach and learning some different schemes I might get excited. 1st year in my life I'm just going through the motions as a fan. I'm a beaten fan. I'm still waiting for the cloud to be lifted as a fan.

Our fan base has been pulverized in almost every way imaginable for a decade. I think a lot of us feel similarly.

The way I look at it is even if Golden fails, the program is in WAAAAAYYYYY better shape than it was after Shannon or Coker. So whoever takes over is gonna have a Lot of talent. Also, this class brings an lot of excitement with it. A lot of pass rushers and big hitters. Something that's been missing here for a while. Add that to A healthy Bush, Perryman, AQM and McCord and there is definitely something to look forward too.

I, too, get a kick out of the UTough stuff. Like every other team in the country is NOT training its players to get bigger, stronger, and faster. :rollcanes:

First of all, there's a huge myth that UTough is an everyday thing... it's not. They only have it on Mondays and Wednesdays. Secondly, the camera people are trained to get the most "dramatic" moments of workouts. Most people think it's a PR fraud. Cameras are shoved in the players' faces in the middle of what is supposed to be some life-changing conditioning work.

Well **** me then

I'm over all the pr ploys and fluff.

Beat Louisville and field a defense that isn't one of the worst in the country, and maybe I'll consider getting a boner.

Seems to be saying that UTough is another public relations technique. Like "Raisin Canes." And giving good press conferences.
If UTough was so tough why did we collapse in the last half of the season? Scheme can't be the only answer.

We "collapsed" because we quit. Dudes gave up because they knew the corches had no answers for them on defense.

DukeTough seemed to work for Duke when they broke our will in the 4th quarter and made us quit.

Honestly thats surprising. I played in college and knew that UTough is just another name for winter conditioning. Ours was 3 days per week and was absolute ****. On the field by 5:30, 8 stations non stop for an hour finishing off the workouts with 15-20 60yd sprints and up downs. Effing horrible. I still have nightmares about it.

That's precisely my point, francesca. Other teams are training their players as well. It's not like we're the only team working out.

You guys are making a big deal about UTough like it was intended for U. Every school has a version of UTough. It's in place to measure each player conditioning throughout the off season. We as fans made a big deal about it because we never saw it before and we criticize the previous regime for how poorly conditioned the players were prior to the start of the season. Why don't you interview the players who have to endure these condition test and ask them is it a PR stunt. The cameras are there to gave an insight to the fans into what goes on during these test. Its similar to Pete write up, "The Work". Which gives us fans, an insight into the recruiting aspect of the program. Lighten up and enjoy the process, lol!

Most people think UTough is a PR fraud? Who are most people? Are the players also coached to share via social media their progress and how hard the workouts are?

It's a ******* workout regimen, so I'm not sure what you expect to be happening. UTough has the kids more excited about conditioning than they were under Shannon, and every indication is it's more rigorous than anything we'd been doing in recent history.

Lots to insult and complain about. UTough and our branding/marketing aren't a problem, though.

This neither surprises nor upsets me. The kick in the balls that was the absolute collapse the last 6 games, the curb stomping at the hands of L'ville, and the bs interview Golden gave to Joe Rose left me a completely defeated and deflated fan.

Go Canes!

It really is this simple.
