Spring Practice dates are here!

And what's with the lost puppy dog look on his face? LOL smh

I refuse to believe anybody who makes a face like that can play Linebacker.

*jumps off Grace bandwagon*

So now he sucks because he's wearing jorts and has a "puppy dog" look on his face? Gotchu...

I'm more worried about his skinny calves and ankles.
Doesn't look like he has the frame to be an every down linebacker.
Then again, he's still not even legal to drink, so he definitely has time to grow.

I'm not thrilled with Golden and his staff either but an 11 page thread about the "farce" that is Utough is just showing the ignorance of some posters who will just make stuff up to make themselves feel better.
Co-signed. Seems like nowadays (and this thread is a perfect example), we can't mention any bit of somewhat positive Canes news on here without it turning into a Golden/NoDFrio/Shalala/Blake James bashing-fest.

Being realistic about our program's issues is one thing. Being a negative sh1thead 24/7 is another.

So I'm a ****head for believing we still don't match the physicality of an elite SEC team or FSU?

I don't care how big our guys are if they can't throw the weight around properly.

We haven't had a team full of explosive players in a long time.
And that's pretty crazy given the amount of explosive players that enter the program as freshman (only to never really develop).

And why is it so hard to believe that SEC/FSU strength coaches are > Swassey?

UM problem is from the shoulders up. When someone hits you and you don't hit back doesn't mean you're weaker, just means you're a *****

So I'm a ****head
If you want to lay claim to that, be my guest.

Seriously though--the ones who are sh1theads are the ones who would hear a positive tidbit of news, no matter how big/small, and somehow or another...it would get twisted into some kind of unrelated bytching/whining/moaning/complaining about our defensive scheme, coaches, or other bone they have to pick with James/Shalalalalala.

I'm cool with and agree with most of the stuff you posted after what I quoted...I have the same concerns. Those are real. Voicing them in relation to the S&C/UTough is fine by me...it's good conversation, and valid.

However, if you brought up the same stuff in, say, the Uniform threads that pop up...then that makes you a sh1thead in my book.

I always LOL'd at the "we look small" garbage.

The HC I coached for had a buddy who was a GA on the USF team that beat us in Shannon's last game. The GA said that Miami looked like a **** NFL team, they weren't sure how the **** they'd match-up with Miami's athletes, and if anybody can ever "get those kids to play" that they'd be unstoppable.

We only "looked small" to people with an agenda. And the few kids we had that were undersized WERE RECRUITED LIKE THAT.

We had guys go to the NFL combine and measure better than most kids from LSU and Bama, who are both considered to have top-notch S&C programs.

Were we gonna have one of the strongest teams top to bottom? No. Miami never has. We always sacrificed brute strength for speed and explosion. What we saw during the Shannon era was a lack of talent and more importantly a lack of effort and coaching.

What we're doing now is putting more of an emphasis on strength and we're bulking our guys up. Our kids are probably gonna do great at the combine in bench tests. Who wants to bet me that we're much slower though?

I agree with most of your post, but can we please put the myth to bed that bigger must = slower? My brother went to play college football, put on 40 pounds and shaved .3 off his 40 time.

You know.....it is possible to get bigger-->stronger-->more explosive-->faster.

No ****. The same thing happened to me in college. There's a limit though. Guys like Chickillo and Perryman are not gonna get faster while gaining as much weight as we've allowed them to gain. Every athlete's frame has a limit. Your brother probably had the frame to gain 40 pounds and stay fast. Chick should not be 280lbs and short-*** Perryman should not be 240+.

Chickillo is built similar to his father and he could play 3-technique tackle at 280 pounds. I agree. Perryman needs to cut 5 to 10 pounds unless they move him inside.

If Grace is 6'1", then I'm not sure how they plan on getting him to 220+ pounds. The kid is built like a strong safety with his bone structure.

If they are gonna stay with 3-4, Tyriq and Quan have to be in the low to mid 250s this year. They got to be big enough that the RBs can't block em since the tackles are covered up, but athletic enough to drop back into coverage to play the curl to flat. 255 is right around where they should be.

Quan is ripped, but not thick. Hopefully he can add another 10 before the season.

They need to have good enough technique to shed blocks. They can be 255 or 225, won't matter if they can't perfect their technique... I've seen undersized guys be absolutely badass because they were technicians and fast!

Jermaine Grace?

We need his speed on the field this year.

Weight 220-225, gonna be nasty.

I'm excited to see what this kid can do this year. I'm hoping he gets some serious burn at LB, kid was a heat seeking missle in high school.

Smh @ you for taking me seriously.

This thread is serious bizness!!! I've already been negged for trying to have fun here. I better get back on task.
