If you have ESPN insider read this link. Kip is very confident on Sony to UGA. I dont know who his sources are but he **** sure trust them on this one.

http://insider.espn.go.com/insider/georgia/forums/_/the-pound#!/topic/1365430125-665-907

Is this the same kip who swore coley was going fo fsu or usf and there was no way he'd sign with miami..... smh

I dont think Kip said anything about Coley. Kip covers UGA and North Carolina. Kip hit on every Georgia prospect on NSD even some kid who picked UVA over UGA.

If he picks UGA over the U we can't blame the coaches. We have had the full court press on him since he was in 8th grade. That means he thinks playing at UGA is a better option than playing at Miami, which in my opinion sucks even more than if the coaches just dropped the ball. I'm really hoping that all of this is a smoke screen and he throws up the U

The **** I can't blame the coaches. He's been wanting to come here since the 8th grade, if he doesn't want to come here, then something got messed up along the way. This whole idea that Golden is perfect in regards to recruiting is ridiculous.
You're right. Golden should hold a gun to the kid's head.:ohlord:

If all things are equal then I see your point but they are not equal. Sony is a kid that grew up a fan of the program, is a local kid and most importantly plays a position of need. It has already been broken down by others on this site; the smart choice for Sony is to pick Miami. If he does not, it will be a failure by the staff no ifs or buts about it.

No one really knows anything. Both sides feel confident so it's a crapshoot

I mean...I kind of understand what you're saying, but how? What could the coaches have possibly done to ***** this up? I'm not one of those guys that thinks Al is flawless and can do no wrong. Logically, I just don't see what could possibly have happened. A list of things coaches do to ***** up recruitments:

1)Offer late (We were on him since 8th grade, so no)
2) Slow play (again, we might have been the first team to offer him)
3)Recruit other players at his position after saying we wouldn't (I doubt it seeing as Sony himself wants to play with another top back)
4) Told him we would recruit him as a position he doesn't want to play like Rudolph (Sony is a rb all the way and it has never been mentioned we wanted him for something else)
5) Stopped recruiting him after his injury (didn't happen)
6) Inconsistent contact with him (doubtful as he has been to campus numerous times and has been made a top target)

I also doubt Sony has been turned off by academic requirements or there is anything weird going on between his coach (Mike Rumph, former Cane) and the school. So what could it be? The NCAA? Maybe, but Golden wasn't involved and at the very least is telling Sony we aren't getting anything more (at least bowl bans anyway). The only thing it could be is we don't win enough, but if the kid is as legit a fan as he says and as everyone makes him out to be then he knows what happened with Shannon and Al's first 2 years. He sees the talent we have and he knows we are primed to return from the cellar. He sees we had the best freshman running back in the country and it's not out of the question that he, himself, can duplicate or surpass that success. After all of these tests for me, I concluded that if in fact Sony chooses UGA over the U it is because he liked their staff more, wants to play for Georgia in the SEC and feels like he will do better in that system and at that school.

At the end of the day there is only so much a coach can do to convince a player to play for them. At what point do we put any of it on the kid? I would just love to know what ya'll think could have possibly happened between Sony and the coaches to make it the coaches fault given the information we have. I'll hang up and listen

So a staff recruits him since 8th grade, tells him all he wants to hear, gets him on campus as many times as they can and its a failure on their side? Lol no. The staff has worked harder than anyone if he doesn't commit its not because of them not giving their all.

add to that
- we have a potent offense
-herald young QB to take the reigns by the time Sony gets here
- and studs up front to block

its on Sony

Gentlemen, maybe we're looking at this wrong.

What is happening right before or right after Sony's announcement date?

Sony didn't pull that particular date out of hizazz. Something is particular about that date.

Guys?
