Sony close to a decision?

the only reason he's not sure about committing to us is that he wants to be a five star RB.

if he commits to us, he knows that will bring an automatic negative star handicap.

Funny, but very true, he has to wait till the FINAL ratings if he wants to keep his fifth star

Not true at all and pretty stupid.

Duke Johnson committing to us didn't cost him a 5star ranking. Alex Collins committing to us didn't cost him a 5star ranking either.

This whole star ranking bias against UM conspiracy is pure hogwash.

Actually a few former employees came clean about how the cook the books so kids who are going to schools with big subscription bases get a boost. Obviously that pushes down the other kids.

The who ranking system is a joke. Not only are these kids ranked by people who are unemployable in sports or as a real journalist, but they even cook the books after that.

If you want to see where a kid is "ranked" by the experts, look at his offer sheet.

I mentioned it in our class remix thread but if you look at highlights of Bond and Figueroa, you wont see much difference between them being unranked and many 4 and 5 star kids.

The star system isn't a complete sham but it's certainly corrupt and biased enough to not worry about.

Last year our first commit (who ended up actually signing with UM) was RLIII on March 20th. Olsen was in May, Gall was in June, Burns/Carter were in July.

When did Collins and Bryant commit?

None of the ones you mentioned never even thought about wavering.

I'm not sure since Rivals only had the guys who committed and stayed committed. I believe we got the three commits after one of the big Jr. Days. (Bryant, Collins, Kearse).

That is what I thought. Thanks.

I know we hate the term lock but Sony is a lock for UM and his probably a bigger UM fan than you guys lol

I can't speak for the other men on here, but I can assure you he's not a bigger UM than I am, or else he would have committed the second he got the offer. I keep hearing about him being born a Cane and being a lock, yet I haven't heard him commit. Hmmmmm.

These Matthew Thomas comparisons are coming straight out of left field.

Yeah they aren't similar at all.

I don't think the comparison is to Thomas so much as it is to this eery feeling that somehow we're just not going to get this guy. I have that feeling with Sony, just like I had it with Thomas. Not sure why. But I do.

You probably have that feeling because you're such a sharp dude, and all this talk of him being born a Cane and all that other nonsense we keep hearing from UM fans doesn't jive with him being so open in his recruitment and talking up other schools so robustly.

this...Sony Michel's recruitment sounds a WHOLE helluva lot different than K.C. McDermott's

I can't believe that one kid from BTW gave posters a mild case of soft shoulders.

We can get in a big circle and ******* all over each other, or we can have rational discussions. Guys doubting the "Sony as diehard Cane" or "Sony as lock" campaigns are merely applying some critical analysis to what seem to be flawed theories based on Sony's actions. Deeds not words, my friend.

Lulz at Sony being a bigger fan, lulz at UGA being the leader. It is February 2013, not February 2014. That **** doesnt matter.

Michael Johnson and Alin Edouard sound more like Canes than this kid and they dont even have offers.

he isn't going to FSU per his teammates....Georgia is the biggest competition and Notre Dame he's looking at too. One of his good friends goes to each school. Sony is a huge cane fan back in 8th grade/freshman year when he was getting started he would tell everyone he was committed to Miami and was going to be the next great back. Just because he is looking at all his options doesnt make him less of a fan, he just wants to make the best choice. Bottom line is we win big this year beat FSU and Florida and we have him plus the rest of the elite guys down here.

Sho' nuff does. When Sony tells Richt or that red-faced future heart attack victim Kelly to hit the road when they show up at his HS give me a call.

Most definitely, but it's also a lot different than Thomas'.

Shouldn't have to "win big" to get a monster Canes fan to stay home and attend UM. I hope he comes even if we only win the Coastal again.

I and many others don't feel he is a lock. That's a strawman. People are comparing Sony's recruitment to a kid that people knew wanted to leave for years(Thomas). That is erroneous. This isn't about Sony being a lock.
