Sony close to a decision?

the only reason he's not sure about committing to us is that he wants to be a five star RB.

if he commits to us, he knows that will bring an automatic negative star handicap.

Funny, but very true, he has to wait till the FINAL ratings if he wants to keep his fifth star

Not true at all and pretty stupid.

Duke Johnson committing to us didn't cost him a 5star ranking. Alex Collins committing to us didn't cost him a 5star ranking either.

This whole star ranking bias against UM conspiracy is pure hogwash.

Collins was a 4 star when he was committed to us. got the 5th when he decommitted. the only exception is duke, so actually, youre wrong.

Not really, but it's not necessarily a bias, if that makes any sense. South Florida has a ****load of really good football players. Some of them aren't evaluated because they aren't at these camps or on these 7 on 7 squads. Guys like Isaiah McKenzie, or Travis Benjamin, or Ereck Flowers just slip through the cracks. Duke was at ALL of these camps showing everybody just how nice he was.

It's not a conscious bias by Rivals to downgrade Miami commits/targets. They simply can't evaluate everyone considering they are a National Organization. I don't think it's a coincidence that ESPN has the UA game in Florida and also evaluates Florida talent better than Rivals.

Collins was named the number one running back in the nation by 247, after he decommitted

I have the same feeling about this kid as I did with Matthew Thomas.

For some reason, I agree with you. I'm thinking Cook will be our guy.

Am I just crazy or not up to speed? why does everyone assume it'll be easier to persuade Cook to decommit from Clemson, rather than land Sony who was born a Canes fan and everyone around him loves UM?

I understand commitments don't mean anything, but i think it's just a bold prediction people assuming we'll land Cook

Sony just seems to me to be all business. As many players as the []_[] has in the NFL, we aren't exactly lighting up the draft boards. He seems to be a guy who's gonna set aside his fandom and make a business decision, and it doesn't seem to me that he thinks Miami is the best business decision. ESPN slobs the SEC nob on a 24 hour basis, and as much as it sucks the image out there is that the SEC is where you play if you want to get drafted early. I hope I'm wrong though.

Last year our first commit (who ended up actually signing with UM) was RLIII on March 20th. Olsen was in May, Gall was in June, Burns/Carter were in July.

When did Collins and Bryant commit?

None of the ones you mentioned never even thought about wavering.

I'm not sure since Rivals only had the guys who committed and stayed committed. I believe we got the three commits after one of the big Jr. Days. (Bryant, Collins, Kearse).

You guys must enjoy pain! The ink is hardly dry on the 2013 class and already freaking out about 2014. It matters little who commits in the next few weeks/months, lots will happen between now and Feb 2014.

The first overall commit last class was Kermit Whitfield. Then the Collins/Bryant/Kearse trio at UM Jr Day.

Actually a few former employees came clean about how they cook the books so kids who are going to schools with big subscription bases get a boost. Obviously that pushes down the other kids.

The whole ranking system is a joke. Not only are these kids ranked by people who are unemployable in sports or as a real journalist, but they even cook the books after that.

If you want to see where a kid is "ranked" by the experts, look at his offer sheet.
