I thought he would be amazing based off intangibles. Dude had everything but a good team lolI bet the Bills expected him to be pretty good when they picked him #7 in the first round…

Lol Wienke was QB coach on possibly one of the worst offensive staffs in the NFL the last couple decades. He was almost there the same amount of time he was a RB coach at Tennessee (after he was an NFL QB coach!! Wow what a QB whisperer). Is that really the point you wish to make? The REASON none of those other teams are asking for Dorsey is because they have literally 0 shot at him being their OC at all. Literally zero shot. Dude would only come to college for Miami. That's it. Secondly an NFL team is likely to make him an OC this off-season. So let's not act like he is unqualified after years of being an successful NFL QB coach in which he coached Cam to an MVP season and has majorly boosted Josh Allen. Yet you want to compare that to Chris Wienke? Come on.There are 0.0 gator fans who would oppose this deal. Take your Canes glasses off for 2 seconds. Is FSU dying to get Dorsey? Is UF? Is anyone in college? We all love Ken, but the fact that he played here has ZERO BEARING on his ability to be a great coach. And he might be. But he hasn’t proven it as far as play-calling at any level. Why is he the highest on the board? Again, it’s not like we unlock a cheat code if we hire a former player. He’s just a coach like anyone else would be.
Let’s put it this way…..Chris Weinke just took the QB job at GT. He’s coached QBs in the NFL. And at Tennessee. Why isn’t he #1 on FSU’s board? This obsession we have with former players is beyond weird. If anything, prior history should tell us we should NOT hire former players as coaches. They’ve mostly been very underwhelming. (Let’s hope Mario bucks that trend).
Hudak or Reed?I'm betting they'll keep Ed around in some capacity if he's amenable.
I completely disagree with you for the first time in a long time. I think it's more akin to how we got Mario. The 12 game winning, top 10 class recruiting, Rose Bowl wining coach of Oregon isn't going to be interested in coming to Miami in 2021 unless there is a personal connection. That's how we got Mario. I don't think there is another program Mario would have left for. MAYBE Bama. From what I understand he told LSU, UF and USC that he wasn't interested.
I think it's the same with Ken. He's on many NFL short-lists to be an NFL OC next year. Who in their right mind stops that train? I don't think he would entertain a CFB OC position. Unless it was the siren call of his alma mater and Mario. And even then I don't know if we could pull him.
I don't think people here are really understanding how coveted an NFL OC position is. Many think it's the greatest coaching gig in sports. Everyone eventually wants HC money and power, but calling plays in the NFL is as fun as it gets.
Option 3 is most qualified but not best fit.let’s play blind resume. who would you rather have as oc.

A lot of peoples top choice was Brady and he is about on the same level as Dorsey for those things.Notice how recruiting, experience and longevity gets brought up with any other potential coach but is ignored by the homers when it comes to Dorsey.
re: Dorsey...
Its weird, but I feel if he wasn't a former Hurricane more of yall would be on board. Yeah, no playcalling history, but if you said you were bringing down a QBC/Passing Game Coordinator from a top offense in the NFL that was attributed (in part) to the success of MVP version of Cam Newton and Josh Allen, I think yall would be pretty hype. You've got TVD who is kind of like the latter...and Jacurri Brown who is kind of like the former...maybe I'm fantasy bookin', but that sounds pretty great, idk.
I'd like someone with playcalling experience, too...but fvck it, if Dorsey's gonna succeed as a playcaller, I'd want it to be right here with the good guys. And if he sucks, and he might...at least we took the swing.
This board is wild west of bad takes. MF'rs just going into the saloon and challenging Wild Bill in the middle of a card game because he's got the hottest takes in the west. What if I told you that we could hire an NFL OC and former college passing game coordinator who does have a history of calling plays and sports a shiny National Championship ring?
I'd then tell you his name is Joe Brady. And lastly I'd tell you half this board said they didn't want him LOL.
You know some here will ***** whomever is hired. My approach is give it at least half a season of eye test before starting to form your opinion. I say the same about all off season hype. I have PTSD from way too many years of off season hype and it not happeningre: Dorsey...

no actually that makes zero sense. recruiting, experience and longevity get brought up with every potential coach, except dorsey. you saying that a certain coach on a college staff doesn’t need to recruit is laughable.
but that’s why we love it. Equal opportunity chance to demonstrate our lack of knowledge. This board is wild west of bad takes. MF'rs just going into the saloon and challenging Wild Bill in the middle of a card game because he's got the hottest takes in the west.
I wouldn’t bet that.I'm betting they'll keep Ed around in some capacity if he's amenable.
So Dorsey is passing game coordinator for the 11th best passing offense in the nfl. Probably be higher if they didn’t play one game in tropical storm force winds. He has worked with cam Newton and was instrumental in his best season ever. We know he’s smart as ****, works hard and is a great leader. The more I think about it the more I like it.Go back and re-read the posts. I can find, literally, dozens of posts where guys have claimed that the OC and/or DC hires do NOT need to be recruiters.
I'm not arguing with YOU. You are entitled to YOUR opinions. But if you think that a ****load of posters haven't been claiming, for weeks, that the coordinators do not need to be recruiters, you are nuts. It was literally one of the primary point/counterpoint arguments about Brady, who has never been known as a recruiter.
Then Mario will not do well here if he hasn’t learned his lesson. Need some good X and O coaches also. Brady doesn’t like recruiting and Mario went after him so apparently your sentence is not correct. I think Mario will choose wisely and do well here.Well, Mario just basically said yea, they do all have to be recruiting superstars.
