IMO Candle is already hired. The fact that there was no info being released for weeks, then all of the sudden his name leaks as being targeted, and given the situation with Toledo's current AD, and I read somewhere him and Mario have the same agent, this seems like it should be a done deal
Smells a ton like the Rad process, except his name wasn't mentioned briefly...but the 0 to 100, that's more like it.

I know Toledo lost their starting QB, Eli Peters, before the season. Retired for medical reasons.

Was replaced by Carter Bradley, who wasn’t great. Halfway through the season, Bradley was replaced by this kid:

Idk. Maybe the completion % could be a little higher, but those stats look just fine to me.

18/2 td/int ratio? Sign me up.

Ngl if we don't get candle @Number1CanesFan gone come through with the Windmill swinging d everywhere. Not that any of his points were valid but this gone be bump city lmao.
Hahaha. True. But whatever decision Candle makes, doesn’t validate or negate the irrational argument he is making. It’s ridiculous that he can’t fathom that this is a potential good move for Candle worth considering. I hope he is no ones career coach. Another poster tried arguing with me that Flores needed to be fired from the Dolphins. It’s a valid argument to discuss. Fair points on both sides. Once he was fired, I believe the poster bumped his own quote as if he was right. Lol. All it proved was that he and Ross are on the same page 😬.

But like you said, you know it’s coming if Candle stays

If the choices ARE Candle and Belk .. and we have seen comments from "insiders" saying the DC hire was more advanced LAST WEEK than the OC hire .. this should be announced this week? Why delay any longer .. unless they are actually waiting for Dorsey to sign his OC contract with the Bills before accepting that he isn't available.

strong YPA too, and in his first real playing time.

Has anyone ever left a HC job at a mid major to be an OC at a bigger program without getting canned? Hope it happens but gotta wonder the rationale unless it's more pay and he wants to live in Miami

Toledo Total Offense Rankings with him at OC :
2012: 32nd
2013: 39th
2014: 15th
2015: 30th

Total Offense Rankings with him as head coach: (apparently he's still the play caller?)
2016: 7th
2017: 14th
2018: 30th
2019: 36th
2020: 13th
2021: 38th

On his philosophy:
Model of consistency...I can appreciate that.

Haha I appreciate the thought.

My opinion on Candle is mixed. Let me say I think he would be a good OC hire at Miami and I would be happy with him, but here are my reservations:

1. Something will have to be arraigned regarding who handles the clock. Toledo has blown some games in the WILDEST of fashions due to clock mismanagement since he took over from Matt Campbell. See 2020 vs WMU as an example. This concerns me as Mario is also known for mismanaging the clock at times. So I don't know if some sort of quality control analysis would be able to take on the responsibility or what. But Mario + Candle handling the clock is no bueno.

2. I generally like his play calling and Toledo has had really good offenses under him as a head coach.

3. He was even better as an OC for Campbell when he was at Toledo, which is encouraging.

4. His teams have always recruited well in Florida, which I like.

Like I said, I would absolutely take him. I just would like something concrete done about clock management.

Beating teams by 50 is good clock management. 🤣🤣🤣

I'll say this - based on the comments I've read from Toledo fans, they would be fairly indifferent about him moving on
As one of those Toledo fans, I will say a lot of it has to do with brutal clock mismanagement and the inability to close games late (mostly on the defensive side). I like him as a play caller and as a recruiter. But I would like Toledo to go in a different direction head coach wise. It's a close call though. It's just frustrating that they continually out recruit the rest of the MAC and haven't won the conference since 2017.
