I'm not going to respond anymore to all the irrational comments.
It's clear thst people are incapable of of thought and dialog without it being all about Miami. It isn't. Apply what I said to any other school.
If Candle was quiting his job to the OC at FSU, you'd say he's a fool.
He's going to be a P5 head coach if he wins in his league. The MAC is the farm for P5 coaches.
So, it would only make sense to leave if you don't believe you can win or you have issues with the administration.
This may have been a take 10 years ago but the Coaching job market has changed drastically in the last few years/months.
1. Consider the person whose singular motivation and actual job is to get Candle the most money over the course of his career, his agent. His agent put him up for this job as OC at Miami. Why would an agent put their client on a worse career trajectory? Do you think you know the intricacies of the college coaches market better than Jimmy Sexton? - BETTER CAREER TRAJECTORY
2. As witnessed by the changes at UM, Coordinator salaries at the top of the power 5 have sky rocketed in correlation to HCs at p5 and G5 and compared to NFL assistants. Why are more coaches than ever before leaving NFL jobs to return to be college coordinators? UGA OC, Oregon DC, Michigan DC, LSU Dc, etc etc. - MORE MONEY
3. Fundraising, Administration, hiring/firing, supervising recruiting, budgeting, community involvement, human resources are all head aches that a HC has to deal with and an OC does not. - LESS HEADACHES, BETTER QUALITY OF LIFE
4. QB. Show me an offensive head coach or OC that is moving up in the world or held in high esteem and every single one of them has something in common; they've all had GREAT QB play. You can't move forward as an offensive coach without it. Being able to have A+ athletes to showcase what your system can do. If you are trying to create a resume line offense wouldn't it be a good idea to work with one of the top 5 QBs in college? He got low 3 star Logan Woodside to the NFL, imagine what he could do with TVD. - THE BEST QB HE'S EVER WORKED WITH
5. Miami will be on national television for most of it's games and will be featured in primetime two or three times. No one will see what he does at Toledo and if fans don't see your work they are unlikely to be clamoring to hire you. It would be impossible to have success at Miami and not get national media recognition. - BIGGER STAGE, MORE RECOGNITION FOR SUCCESS
So hey he may not take the job, but it's perfectly logical for him to pursue it...
TLDR:
Better career trajectory, more money, less problems, the best tools for success you've ever had, and more recognition.
vs
Job Title.
If you don't believe us just ask Jimmy Sexton.
