If he's was getting fired, he would have been fired already, so it's not even a point to make.

Secondly, this fan base is so irrational. If this discussion weren't involving Miami, then people wouldn't try to make an argument and would just agree that it doesn't make sense for a G5 coach (who has a job) to leave his job and become an OC. He has experience as a head coach. If he wins MAC title, he'll have a P5 head coa h job next year.

In the end, this may all be a ploy to get a new contract and pay raise.
You’re right, maybe it is a contract ploy. But that doesn’t usually work when you are performing below expectations. He may come, he may not, but it’s not as ludicrous as you think.

Since you are so confident it’s not going to happen, you willing to take a self ban if he is indeed the OC hire?

That's not impossible, but the fact that it's a new AD might come into play. Imagine Candle going into his office and saying I have to seriously consider some of the offers I've been given and having the AD tell you, good luck, we were considering moving in a different direction next season anyway.

He already won the MAC and was 2017 MAC coach of the year. Still at Toledo.

But you're right, ya never know until it's announced and yes it is definitely unconventional.

But as we've seen over the last 12 months...the college game has DRASTICALLY changed. With transfer portal, with NIL, with programs throwing stupid money for coordinators and position coaches, and elite HCs leaving stable programs to join another program (Riley to USC and BK to LSU). It could just be an ideal scenario for Candle knowing that all of these things have impacted the college landscape and he knows he'll never be apart of it while at Toledo.

I’ve never heard anywhere near the same amount of candidates for DC as OC. I also believe DC was sealed up or close to the last week. Unless there’s some mystery candidate I‘ll just stick with what I‘ve posted.

So ND involved?

It doesn't change the fact that it makes little to no sense for a head coach who has a job to take a demotion regardless of the amount of money. He just needs to win at his current school and he'll have a P5 job just like Matt Campbell did.

You may lose people, but do you take a guy that you could only have 1 year?

Like I said, from Candle's perspective, does it make sense to move your family when you know your going to move again in 2 years or less to be a head coach again?
Yes, a lot

I'm not going to respond anymore to all the irrational comments.

It's clear thst people are incapable of of thought and dialog without it being all about Miami. It isn't. Apply what I said to any other school.

If Candle was quiting his job to the OC at FSU, you'd say he's a fool.

He's going to be a P5 head coach if he wins in his league. The MAC is the farm for P5 coaches.

So, it would only make sense to leave if you don't believe you can win or you have issues with the administration.

Totally out if context. You don't take a demotion unless you have to. Especially when you're going to make 3-4 times more money a few years later.

Too many moves on the family in a don't period of time.
1) Bold assumption;
2) Who says they don't want to move?
3) Doubling (at least) one's salary in exchange for less work isn't a "demotion" to most people.

You keep using the word irrational; other people have listed several rational reasons why he would leave Toledo. All we can do at this point is wait and see.
