You’re right, maybe it is a contract ploy. But that doesn’t usually work when you are performing below expectations. He may come, he may not, but it’s not as ludicrous as you think.If he's was getting fired, he would have been fired already, so it's not even a point to make.
Secondly, this fan base is so irrational. If this discussion weren't involving Miami, then people wouldn't try to make an argument and would just agree that it doesn't make sense for a G5 coach (who has a job) to leave his job and become an OC. He has experience as a head coach. If he wins MAC title, he'll have a P5 head coa h job next year.
In the end, this may all be a ploy to get a new contract and pay raise.
