We may hire an OC who:

- is a ******* HC at toledo right now
- has legit playcalling experience
- has churned out multiple explosive offenses

FSU just promoted their OL coach to OC lmao

We are gonna win the ACC in the near future if Mario keeps making these big boy moves.
THIS. There are zero downsides to this. You get a proven guy who has run some legit high-powered offenses, has obvious leadership skills having served as a HC, AND he's hungry and looking to make a name for himself at the P5 level.

Amazing move by Cristobal if he can pull this off.

I normally don’t pay attention to this but why would DVD be following Belk? McClendon and Kevin Smith also following Belk.

The guy is A CURRENT head coach!!!!

Do you expect an up and coming OC at G5 to take a WR position job at a P5 school. just for more money? NO!!!

I don't see how think a head coach who has a job is going to leave his job for a 2 year demotion just for more money.

A lot of hypocracy going on. People always saying they want experienced coaches. Would it be wise for a head coach to take a demotion as an OC or to continue building his head coaching resume if he wants a P5 job.

It's just like an OC quiting his job to become a position coach. It doesn't make sense. You only take a demotion when you get fired and there aren't other OC opportunities available. Same goes for the head coach.
You're really passionate about this bad take huh?

That's a 2 level move from FCS to P5.
So you can just say it with your chest at this point, because we all know what you're thinking (just like every other casual football fan in America); why would he leave the HC job at a solid G5 program to go to an irrelevant Miami team?

Just like why would Dan Radakovich leave Clemson for Miami? Why would Mario leave Oregon for Miami? Why would recruits not go to the SEC! SEC! SEC! over Miami?

Dude, take 5 minutes and read the article I posted last night. He's had 4 straight below-expectations seasons since winning 11 games back in 2017 and Toledo is going to be hiring a new AD. He would have likely been on the hot seat anyways coming into this year, and his contract is up in 2023.

Not sure. Nobody in the MAC is getting consistent stud QB play so I imagine it’s a tough sell. And while I like Coley as a recruiter/QB coach, I’m deathly afraid of him getting a promotion should whomever the offensive coordinator is move on to greener pastures in a year or two.
Yeah the first part is a fair point. I don’t know enough about that

We must purge ourselves of the PTSD though. Coley won’t be an OC here haha

I think I would prefer Mason as he's more of a veteran and has cut his teeth in the SEC for quite some time; plus, he brings head coaching experience for Mario to bounce opinions off of. However, the upside with Belk is tremendous; either way, awesome hires if either come to fruition.

Totally out if context. You don't take a demotion unless you have to. Especially when you're going to make 3-4 times more money a few years later.

Too many moves on the family in a don't period of time.
Perception is 80% of reality. If you think going from a G5 HC position to a P5 OC at Miami is a demotion, I don’t what to tell you. Candle’s been at Toledo since ‘09 and HC since ‘16. He has a much better chance getting a P5 HC job being the OC at The U than being the HC at Toledo. Of course, he’d have to be successful as the Miami OC. That’s the reality of perception.

I don't care why he makes the move (if he does). Whether it's $, location, opportunity, he thinks he's going to get fired and wants to take a premium OC job now vs. waiting.

This would be an epic pull by Mario getting a current G5 HC to be his OC. Now that doesn't guarantee success, but backs up everything we heard since Manny was canned that we are taking this seriously now.

Seems like there's no getting through to you; you're entitled to your own opinion, but it's extremely narrow-minded and in-the-moment. You can't pigeon-hole yourself to such limited options if you're on the hot seat at your current job, and no one is taking a look at you as a HC in a P5 conference.

With a new Athletic Director coming in, your current job isn't safe...it's quite the opposite - it makes too much sense to entertain this.
If he's was getting fired, he would have been fired already, so it's not even a point to make.

Secondly, this fan base is so irrational. If this discussion weren't involving Miami, then people wouldn't try to make an argument and would just agree that it doesn't make sense for a G5 coach (who has a job) to leave his job and become an OC. He has experience as a head coach. If he wins MAC title, he'll have a P5 head coa h job next year.

In the end, this may all be a ploy to get a new contract and pay raise.

The time for him to cash out from Toledo and move to P5 gig was after his 11-3 2017 record. He is now mired in mediocrity in Toledo.

I suspect he and his agent are weighing probability of P5 gig with more vanilla records at a low-budget vanilla program vs being OC at a Top 10 program.

It doesn't change the fact that it makes little to no sense for a head coach who has a job to take a demotion regardless of the amount of money. He just needs to win at his current school and he'll have a P5 job just like Matt Campbell did.

You may lose people, but do you take a guy that you could only have 1 year?

Like I said, from Candle's perspective, does it make sense to move your family when you know your going to move again in 2 years or less to be a head coach again?
Dude… thats the coaches life. They move around. Comes with the territory. Even AD Rad mentioned that aspect in a radio interview. The family knows they will move.

Take your Miami glasses off and see it for what it is. Any successful head coach at a G5 with good credentials will get an opportunity as a P5.

This isn't about Miami.

You really love being a ****fart, don't you?

Are you this miserable all the time?

You don't have to eat ****y cheerios every **** morning. Jeez, just stop already. I'm having eye aneurysms every time I see you post.

“If he wins a MAC title”

Good call. I don’t want more money and to live in Miami and Coach a first-round QB. I’d rather stay in Toledo and hope I win the MAC, and hope that leads to a P5 head job. Yanno, two things that are completely not guaranteed.
