Some names to watch before it’s deleted

If it’s Mason I would think we hear about it today unless Mario is going to wait till UGA season is officially over to shoot his shot with their coach. Two weeks max until we have a full staff. It is what it is at this point

I think everyone would assume Schumann would be tough to take, but it's really as simple as this: does he get play-calling duties? If yes, he stays. If no, he's gone imo. Maybe i'm being harsh, but to get passed over for play-calling would be a slap in the face, even if it was given to Muschamp.

Fair counterpoints. I want Schumann as well yet recognize that all of the candidates we are discussing have weaknesses in their resume.

Every name I’ve heard at oc is a legit good hire.

I’m just saying there’s a chance it’s not the few guys that’s been posted on sites, including this one. Dorsey is the only only name out of the few out there I’ve heard. But there’s also guys that haven’t been mentioned. People assume this guy and that guy are top guys but there’s no evidence to show if they are even a candidate.

Mario has kept this thing locked up.

And it's not even purely the "slap in the face" aspect, it's also the "I'm never gonna get my chance here" aspect. Muschamp has a resume, there is a very valid argument to give him the DC job. I am not saying Muschamp should OR should not get the job, only that Schumann might feel he's never going to get his shot, particularly when the "UGa environment" is probably saying "we shouldn't be giving a first-time playcaller the job, we need experienced coordinators".

Hmmm, sounds familiar...

Someone posted the run to pass ratio in 2019 when Herbert was the QB. It was 53% run to 47% pass. So no this isn't just about Anthony Brown if those numbers are true. And beyond the ratio the pass game was conservative as well. Mario had the most talented passer he might very well ever coach and he still wanted to run the ball alot. The hope is that will change when we are clearly an offense not built for that at the moment.

And just to clarify, I personally have mentioned, but not championed, Dorsey's name because I thought he was a realistic option, since I felt Brady and Briles would have more suitors competing with UM.

I will defend Dorsey's qualifications and quality, without making an argument that he SHOULD get the job. But I do know that Mario holds him in high esteem.

That doesn’t take scrambles into play , also like all stats it can be skewed by if your winning and blow outs. That was a good Oregon team so I imagine they were running the ball late in games. You guys hang way too much on google stats instead of letting your eyes judge.

Stop with your hardheaded mopery. Who was that "talented passer" supposed to throw the ball to? Alabama's wide receivers?

Correct. I was told this when all the rumors with Mario started. I’d bet everything I own they’ve been in contact to at least gauge interest.

This. Run % usually higher when severel scores up and you run the clock out in 4th quarter.

He took into account all those things. Herbert ran the ball 58 times that year I think. They also had 5 blowout wins. And I watched Justin Herbert plenty that year. I'm a Dolphins fans so that year was particularly important for QB drafting. @LuCane posted an article again in this thread detailing NFL people being surprised about what Herbert is considering how he was used at Oregon.

You guys just gotta accept it. The stats, the eye-test and the analysis after the fact all support that Mario has a philosophy. That is who he has been. So cut the you guys are just married to numbers stuff. LSU wasn't a good team in 2019? Alabama wasn't a good team? They never had big leads I guess. Those teams knew their best way forward was leaning on the QB and they did.

I'm not sure why people want to fight something that is clearly true. From Justin Herbert to Anthony Brown. The man values highlighting his OL and running game over the QB.
