Sick of the local kids disrespecting this U

Let me ask you guys a question. How does a local kids mom fall in love with Georgia and a snake salesman like Kirby when she had nothing to do with Georgia before. Hmmmmmmm

It’s pretty obvious.

Winning will help a lot but until paying players gets stopped we are ***ed

It's pretty obvious, two trips to the SEC championship, one SEC title, and one playoff berth.

25-30 years ago, I saw tons of kids here in DC-MD-VA wearing Canes stuff at the malls. Now, never see even one. Haven't in a decade or more. No longer sold here at athletic wear stores.

It's not just the community that should not be okay with these kids going off to the Bamas of the world, it's their own teammates. It's other SFL kids. It's our own **** players. I see this stuff on Twitter all the time: a big local HS star spurns us for Bama or UGA, one of our players retweets their commitment video with a good luck comment like, "do work lil bruh!!!" Or some **** like that. Sure, they're friends, maybe even former teammates. But even our own players are being supportive of it to a point. I'd like to see our players give those guys the silent treatment, and if they try to come back and ask why they weren't supported in their decision to leave...I want our guys to have that mentality of, "You chose to leave. You're on the other side of the ball now. You're the enemy. You wanted support, you should have stayed here with me to win, not run off to the SEC or wherever."

No more postgame photo ops with kids that went to Wisky from SFL after Wisky beats us 35-3. Old Canes would have been ready to throw hands, not ready to pose with a guy who went thousands of miles away to school but somehow still wants to rep his city after playing on another team to beat Miami. Fvck all of that.

If you don't want to get played...don't get played.

This is not a tough equation. Stevenson and Bogle should have had their spots taken months ago by quality players.

Kids today don't remember when Miami was great. Kids want to win and that is why Miami doesn't get great players. If Miami wants to get back to pulling 5 star players, start winning.

Historically, Miami has never really pulled 5-stars. It found kids that were undervalued and then developed them. The only 5-star on that 2001 national championship defense was D.J. Williams and he hasn't even the best linebacker on that unit.

There are a lot of very good defensive backs we could have signed but we went all in with Surtain, Campbell and the other big timers. And we passed on kids who could certainly play here and develop into all-conference players. Go look at Sheldrick Redwine. He was a 3-star and he was headed to West Virginia. He turned out to be a **** good player and a 2-year starter at safety.

I understand what you're saying but those kids are still from here no matter what. Its unrealistic for our guys, or anyone for that matter, to spurn their sometimes childhood friends just because they went OOS. Jokingly sure but not on some "you're the enemy" type sh*t.

I agree that what Bogle and Stevenson did was really disrespectful. If they've known for weeks or even months where they were going, don't make it a point to troll all the local fans by making it seem like the U was still in it. Bogle in particular was a total diva through the whole process, then had the balls to make it seem like he might have come here if Kul had stayed, as if that was ever really a factor.

And before anyone starts ripping the coaches for not knowing or continuing to engage with them, just stop. It's their job to fight to the bitter end to try and flip them, even though they know exactly what's going on.

Never been one of those "Just shut up and sign" guys. Don't care about kids having their time in the sun. It's things like blatantly asking for Canes fans to follow him on Twitter while openly trying to build drama, to then troll your own local school that's wrong.
Just a pair of divas

Some of y’all have really created a false narrative about what 80’s South Florida football was. Lorenzo White was not shunned in Broward and Derrick Thomas was not shunned in Dade.

Face it: Miami is where Miami s due to poor coaching not social media shout outs.
I'm not arguing that we aren't missing recruits because of the on the field product. Our losing has put us in this situation, and our culture has suffered. I've said as much in other threads here.

As for White/Thomas not being shunned...that was 2 out of however many, and we were getting our fair share of SFL ballers at that point. You can't compare those days to today because we've got elite kids leaving Miami's program for others en masse each year. Some of that is on Miami (lack of results and bad culture), some of that is because it's been condoned locally by everyone, and become the cool thing to do. There's got to be some kind of pushback locally to that mentality. If it takes letting a Stevenson or a Bogle know that flaunting around their old stomping grounds with UGA/Bama stuff on ain't cool, then so be it.

If I'm a player on the Canes roster right now, and one of those dudes is hitting me up like everything is cool...then I'm letting them know that it's not. I'd be letting them know that sure...it's their life, but they put the strain on our bond when they decided to leave.

Okay...point taken. Maybe not to the point of "you're the enemy". But there has to be some kind of meaningful pushback, otherwise kids will continue to think it's cool repping the crib while hundreds/thousands of miles away from the crib. That ain't cool.

What adults remember when UGA was great ? Seeing as they haven’t won a title in 40 years . Meanwhile they pull the most 5 Stars in the history of recruiting .

Nah. We're not in position to do that right now. Those kids will laugh in our face and then proceed to smack us whenever our teams play. Make it to or near the top first.

People are just front runners nowadays period . Parents not only sit by , they encourage it

I think you meant kids instead of adults. These kids saw UGA within seconds of beating Bama for a NC. Not to mention they have a lot of $upport from their boosters. That's why they can pull whomever.

Either way, you shouldn't be comparing us to them.
