Lol this thread is hilarious. Grown men going ape**** over an 18 year old kid. If he comes, dope if not it’s ok too. We won’t rebuild in one cycle.

💯 this ship turns in 2023. Everything Mario has gotten so far is a massive surprise to I don’t have much expectation for stewart. It’s the transfers, kids already signed plus a few others and then the 2023 class that really changes the direction of this program.

Stewart has always been a long shot and why I started the thread saying if Mario pulled it off it would be one of the top wins on the trail for a Miami coach of all time.

if you listen to the Navarro pod, Joe wasn't the most universally liked dude but it related to more to recruiting. idk if they don't like him as a coach or just as a person they can get along with. who knows. either way, all Mario can do is close the gap by his own natural recruiting prowess so well see.
Well it can’t be coaching right as he’s about to have a top 15 pick unless they are saying it’s all on the kid since he was a 5 star.

What’s the deal with him? Like aside from from the DE, what’s his DL development and play really look like? I mean having a Samoan pipeline is cool but is my man even nice?

the stuff I had seen was hes not a good recruiter. we know recruiting is personality and selling. I trust Mario when he makes hires, so if he thinks hes a good coach then I trust him there. there were concerns with his recruiting and if you look at his history, Mario had others handle big Time recruitments at Oregon for his own position. again I trust Mario. if anyone can make up the lack of recruiting, its Mario. the biggest issue here is that Joe is the only D hire right now. it isn't like we have another dude there other than DVD who can ease concerns. that's why a DC or even other D hires is important.

Could've fooled me. I said as much (actually I was kind by saying he was a good recruiter, but nothing special), and got lit the **** up. You woulda thought his family was on the board.

Then an Oregon writer goes on Navarro, and is complimentary for all of the guys Mario brought over, EXCEPT Big Joe.

Big Joe is no better or worse than what we've had here since Coach Kul. He has never produced a dominant DLine in his career.

Could that change? Sure. I'm optimistic it can, especially with some of the recruits MARIO is going to bring in on the DLine.

Why would Mario bring him if he sucks at recruiting and sucks at coaching? Mario had a clean slate to start fresh and he brought him over. I would like to hear actually details on why Joe sucks on the trail and coaching.

its not a done deal to atm. its clearly a three team race but we don't look like were getting close there
Maaan based on the recent comments in this thread..... I believe it's done. What's the point of a visit if Mario still doesn't have a DC?

Word up. Remember how sorry this class was under Manny? Everything is a cherry at this point. Mario got next. I’m looking to see the development of our players in the future. Tired of players coming here and regressing.

tbh, kayvon was gonna be a star regardless of where he ended up. hes not a 3 star diamond type like GR, but it will help **** have a top 5 pick on a position he coached at least in terms of selling.

Mario can sell. its his best trait. he can't make up for it if they need a DC and we don't have one tho

Exactly, I said earlier 1 dude doesn't make or break the class. The sum of are classes is what will get us to 6*

Exactly what I PM’d Cribby yesterday after talking to some guys on the UGA staff. They think it’s them and A&M and some of the stuff he said about Miami, if true, is really concerning. He’s not a fan of Salave’a. Could just be built in excuses.

Fwiw.. these guys aren’t going to say that stuff about Miami for no reason. Probably true.

Id put the chances of us landing Shemar at about 10% in my mind

thank you. people just want to assume every hire made is better than the last. Mario likes Joe so it is what it is and doesn't matter

Maybe, and just hear me out here -- for as great as Mario is as a HC, he is not perfect and makes the occasional bad hire. Salavae is his guy, and is someone he trusts.

He doesn't suck on the trail, but he is in the second tier of DL coaches and head to head with almost any of these SEC or Big 10 coaches, he is going to lose if they really want the kid.

Who knows what happens w Shemar, but if he comes here, it won't be bc of Big Joe.

Well if it’s JUST recruiting, then Mario and others can make up for that. My main thing is his development of trench players. I looked at his list and outside of the aforementioned DE, it looked so-so to me but we’ll see..

I already said awhile ago.... The closer it gets to NSD, the more you're going to hear of a negative narrative towards Shemar going to the U.... Why? Because uga and atm knows we're a real threat in this. Once again..... We're ahead of uga and that's all I can say.
