Exactly what I PM’d Cribby yesterday after talking to some guys on the UGA staff. They think it’s them and A&M and some of the stuff he said about Miami, if true, is really concerning. He’s not a fan of Salave’a. Could just be built in excuses.

Fwiw.. these guys aren’t going to say that stuff about Miami for no reason. Probably true.

Id put the chances of us landing Shemar at about 10% in my mind

that's the one hire I had concerns with after learning more about him.

There are large contingents of delusional Clemson and Hole fans who are convinced they do things "the right way" while South Carolina, Bama, UGA, LSU, Auburn, Tenn, the Turds, ete, etc. are all out of control cheaters.

Got friends who are FSU fans that whine about it all the time.
You got FSU friends?

When we hired Mario and Miami committed the resources, I thought he could hire pretty much anybody he wanted (within reason). Now that we're 8 weeks in and nearly 2 months I'm expecting Mario to have to settle a little bit for his coordinators.

I mean the only guys he's hired officially so far are guys he brought from Oregon with him. And he's even lost one guy he wanted to keep and could lose another. Maybe Shemar is justifiably questioning Mario's legitimacy?

Meanwhile Jimbo lost a DC to become a head coach and then went out and got a good DC from another program immediately.

Kirby lost a national champion DC to become a head coach and still has 2 DCs on their roster that we'd take.

Is the concerning remark more related at big Joe, or just in general?

Just going to assume NSD will be predominately disappointing, especially if all we can hack of out it is Iuli. Stewart doesn't sound promising, but Mario's got the last shot.
if you listen to the Navarro pod, Joe wasn't the most universally liked dude but it related to more to recruiting. idk if they don't like him as a coach or just as a person they can get along with. who knows. either way, all Mario can do is close the gap by his own natural recruiting prowess so well see.

Besides looking like he could still play, I don't think Salave’a gave many here the feeling he recruit really well. Think many people felt like he was the weak line to the 4 coaches we new were coming from Oregon including Mario

I'm not downplaying it. I fully expect if we dont have one in place this weekend to lose out on those targets. This is on Mario if it plays out that way. Shemar Stewart was a slam dunk once he was hirer. He got him to hold off from committing. Took multiple unofficial visits here, cancelled his ATM visit, has the last official here. And we cant even have a DC in place? Seriously?

Dan Lanning was busy winning a championship and has a staff already assembled. Pure malpractice if we dont have something by today.
Stewart was NEVER a slam dunk to Miami

Welp... Based on what y'all saying, and no DC since that's very important.... This visit is a waste of time.
If 10% is a realistic prediction in your mind, anyone who believes Mario can make up enough ground in one day, STILL WITH NO DC.... Is absolutely batsh!t crazy.... crazier than me lol

based on the people that followed him at Oregon, that was a big issue. he isn't a big time recruiter. Hayward carried a huge load in the Kayvan recruitment along with Mario. its also not people hating to hate. they were positive with the B Mac hiring. some guys can recruit others can't. Mario is elite at it so **** just have to carry Joe there. its easier when you have more than 1 d hire though. its tougher when your only d hire is a guy who may or may not be well liked

Shemar Stewart has been looking for a reason to stay in Miami. He considered us when Danny Miaz was in the fold. Mario changed that to the point he was cancelling visits to other places.Miami all things equal ( assuming we have a DC in place) wins this recruitment.

Why is his handler tweeting at Joe then this morning. None of it makes sense. Not doubting what UGA side is saying but seems weird why you would publicly interact with a coach your player doesn’t care for.

What’s the deal with him? Like aside from from the DE, what’s his DL development and play really look like? I mean having a Samoan pipeline is cool but is my man even nice?

Could've fooled me. I said as much (actually I was kind by saying he was a good recruiter, but nothing special), and got lit the **** up. You woulda thought his family was on the board.

Then an Oregon writer goes on Navarro, and is complimentary for all of the guys Mario brought over, EXCEPT Big Joe.

Big Joe is no better or worse than what we've had here since Coach Kul. He has never produced a dominant DLine in his career.

Could that change? Sure. I'm optimistic it can, especially with some of the recruits MARIO is going to bring in on the DLine.
