Say No to Milroe!!

As a Miami fan that wants to win next year I am in NO position to say no to Milroe. Will he loose us a game, yup. Will he win games. Maybe a couple. But he’s battle tested and it’s the ACC. We can win 10 games with Milroe. We can’t with Emory Williams or Luke Nickel. Even though I love Nickels game.

No doubt the pickings were slim this year. If we end up with Milroe the question will be should we have just taken Chandler Morris, who fits in great with Dawson's offense or was the pursuit of Mateer worth it? I was in favor of pursuing Mateer, but the way it played it out makes it look like it was a quixotic pursuit.

I'll be shocked if we're unable to get QBs like Hoover or Robertson to jump at an offer after what Cam did for himself here this year. Sorsby too. Guys who slot nicely into Dawson's offense should have been champing at the bit to replace Cam here. Confused as to why the haven't been.

Milroe could work here, but as @TwentySix just said Dawson would have a ton of work to do and our offense would look nothing like it did this year. Milroe would solve our problem of losing our power back in Martinez, as he'd be it. We'd need Lofton/Schott to be very good safety blanket options when the deep ball isn't open. We'd also need to be elite in the WR screen game and swing passes to the backs. Our WR room is in a rough way right now, and as constituted it doesn't look like a match for Milroe's best skill after his running - the deep ball.
I give you a 10 for your use of Quixotic.

2 things can be true here.

1) Milroe is better than Emory and would probably play well against ACC competition. Zero argument that Milroe is a dynamic athlete.

2) Those advocating for Milroe are ignoring quite a bit of the bad thru the air. One thing you *cannot* afford to be in this day and age of CFB is one dimensional. Yall dreaming of Lamar Jackson/Derrick Henry-esque backfield…well, even Lamar has to throw the ball some.

What yall are actually advocating for with Milroe?

Wing T option out of the shotgun. 🤷🤦 Pretty sure that’s not gonna work. It might against some opponents, but it’s not gonna have us in the playoff nor ACC title conversation.

My $0.02? The better option would be to find a QB who can make the throws needed to run this offense. Milroe has put on tape that he isn’t that guy. He’s elite running the ball but not throwing it. And no - I’m not measuring him against Cam. Milroe is what he is thru the air. He’s not gonna morph into Lamar Jackson or even a competent passer no matter how much you want it.

Well said but wasn’t he much better last season? Is it possible he just wasn’t a fit in DeBoer’s offense?

You’re free to make that argument if you want, I’m not gonna make it for you.

However, it’s pretty easy to see the throws that Milroe doesn’t have in his bag (and not just this past season under DeBoer but his whole career), and how we would probably ask him to make similar throws in Dawson’s system.

I'm not sure these folks have actually watched this man play. He's bad at quarterback. If Kalen DeBoer can't help him do you really think Mario/Dawson can?

Yall just watched Emory go like 4/15 for 22 yards and are telling me not to want a duel threat guy who was a pre season heisman contender 😂😂😂

Bottom line if Milroe wants to be st Miami I’m telling Emory to kick rocks and that’s that.

If Milroe became the premium version of Malik Rosier we’d be A-Okay

He is a 64% passer right now.

I used to pray Malik could be just 60%.

My only worry is how Dawson adjusts to him. Our offense isn’t really built for a good running qb.
