I’ve seen this posted a couple of times. Im not the kind of person who can really evaluate how a kid would fit or not fit in a certain offense. Can you explain what you see that would be a good fit in SDs offense?

As long as Dawson completely rebuilt his entire offense Milroe could be a good fit for it.

Our running game and rpo game would be phenomenal behind our o-line with him as well as play action pass. And his strength is the deep ball and we did that a ton this year with cam ward going vertical

I think it just means there always isn’t an elite option in the portal every year. Which is why keeping nickel is extremely important.

AI mean we’ll see who else enters but this year… Mateer? Who else is “tier 1”?

Last year Howard, Gabriel, ward - quite a few others

No doubt the pickings were slim this year. If we end up with Milroe the question will be should we have just taken Chandler Morris, who fits in great with Dawson's offense or was the pursuit of Mateer worth it? I was in favor of pursuing Mateer, but the way it played it out makes it look like it was a quixotic pursuit.

I'll be shocked if we're unable to get QBs like Hoover or Robertson to jump at an offer after what Cam did for himself here this year. Sorsby too. Guys who slot nicely into Dawson's offense should have been champing at the bit to replace Cam here. Confused as to why the haven't been.

Milroe could work here, but as @TwentySix just said Dawson would have a ton of work to do and our offense would look nothing like it did this year. Milroe would solve our problem of losing our power back in Martinez, as he'd be it. We'd need Lofton/Schott to be very good safety blanket options when the deep ball isn't open. We'd also need to be elite in the WR screen game and swing passes to the backs. Our WR room is in a rough way right now, and as constituted it doesn't look like a match for Milroe's best skill after his running - the deep ball.

Unfortunately this is probably the worst portal QB class since the portal started. This year Mateer was the clear QB1 by a Mile. Last year he's what 5th or 6th? QBs that usually enter the portal just stayed at their schools or entered the draft.

I agree completely

I'm of the belief that ewers and beck will go pro and that there maybe 2-3 surprises that we can consider - Baylor qb / Illinois qb, etc.

I'm not a huge milroe fan - I just have been talking about him because he seems the most certain one to enter the portal. I watched a lot of bama in '23 due to our friend group on Saturdays and he played well - seeing emory on Saturday vs what I believe milroe could do in a Dawson offense has me thinking it's at least an option that gets us back to ACC title contention.

hopefully more enter and give us more options like you mentioned (Robertson) -I also agree that chandler morris or even Mendoza would have both been excellent and will definitely be seen as misses if we don't get anyone or get someone that underperforms

This 💯! Like seriously! We would be so lucky to have Milroe. He ain’t the best but he’s wayyyyyy better than what we have and he would be a beast here.

ND is going with a non portal qb next year so they'll likely have someone making their first start against us

need experience - whether is milroe or whoever - to have the more experienced QB in that game, the UF game, and the FSU game would be big and then give nickel the reigns in '26

6.6 yards per attempt would put us in a tie for 103rd in the country. It’s **** poor, bottom of the barrel quality play.

I would take him in a heart beat with no knowing about anyone else potentially hitting the portal. Now if we are expecting other bigger names to enter then wait and pass on Milroe. But Milroe is better then Jennings from SMU who just won 11 games in the ACC

Have u seen Marino lately? Not pretty.

For real tho I think Milroe would be a good bridge QB for us while Luke gets ready.
