Say No to Milroe!!

2 things can be true here.

1) Milroe is better than Emory and would probably play well against ACC competition. Zero argument that Milroe is a dynamic athlete.

2) Those advocating for Milroe are ignoring quite a bit of the bad thru the air. One thing you *cannot* afford to be in this day and age of CFB is one dimensional. Yall dreaming of Lamar Jackson/Derrick Henry-esque backfield…well, even Lamar has to throw the ball some.

What yall are actually advocating for with Milroe?

Wing T option out of the shotgun. 🤷🤦 Pretty sure that’s not gonna work. It might against some opponents, but it’s not gonna have us in the playoff nor ACC title conversation.

My $0.02? The better option would be to find a QB who can make the throws needed to run this offense. Milroe has put on tape that he isn’t that guy. He’s elite running the ball but not throwing it. And no - I’m not measuring him against Cam. Milroe is what he is thru the air. He’s not gonna morph into Lamar Jackson or even a competent passer no matter how much you want it.
I didn’t ignore his inconsistent play. I just said he’s better as of today then anything we have or that’s out there.

One of Cam’s strengths is reading the defense and knowing where to go with the ball. He watched hours of film and just knew what the defense was going to do.

Do we think Milroe can give you that? Or will he be a one read, maybe two read, tuck and run guy all season?

The CIS Plan for 2025:

Step 1) Don't get Milroe or anybody else currently available
Step 2)
Step 3) Make CFP

I’ve not been the biggest Milroe fan… but you can’t watch Emory against ISU and compare it to what Milroe was able to do to Georgia.

Now I don’t know that he’s realistic. Might not be worth the cost of bringing him, but he seems like a much better version of Drones who people here liked.

I would still take drones all day long

We can’t throw the true frosh to the wolves this season isn’t important. Mario knows he can’t take a big step back. Gotta win AT LEAST 9 next year and we ain’t with what we got.

And that’s a reasonable thing to say for right now. But there may be more portal entries to come and someone else might be a better fit for the whole offense and not just the running game. I truly think his inconsistent play would have us all tearing our hair out when he misses easy throws that really change the game on 3rd/4th downs. He can’t run for everything. We would be just as mad at him as Bama fans are for the shortcomings he’s shown if they happen in our uniform (hopefully with less racism, but that’s tbd and a low bar).

Now if one of the other pie in the sky options (i.e. - Leavitt) goes into the portal and wants to come here and you’re still stumping for Milroe instead of him, I’d be judging you pretty harshly.

Been doing this since last season lmao
That's really not ideal. Pretty sure two head coaches told him to stop that and he kept on doing it. If he's our QB I'm going be elite at the run/pass drinking game though

Unfortunately, not sure this fanbase is as different on that front as people would think.

Friend of mine pointed it out last year. Honestly seemed to happen in more games this year than last. Doesn't take a Connor Stallions situation to be able to sniff that one out lol

I'm not the biggest Milroe fan but I'd take him in a heart beat. We have a better OL than Bama by a mile. Our run game would be very difficult to stop let alone slow down.

Milroe would add dynamic running ability to the qb position to a team that's already good at running the ball. Forcing teams to account for an extra blocker would layer our offense, in my opinion.

From everything reported by Bama folks, he's a strong leader, great work ethic and comes from a military family.

He isn't an accurate passer but when given time he can get the ball where it needs to be and he's elusive. We get Milroe, I think 9 wins would be our floor. Think Jalen Hurts when he left Bama. Very similar.

It's a trash Portal QB class, coming out of it with Jalen Milroe would be a big win.

Let’s see here: Milroe or Emory Williams?

This isn’t rocket science. Milroe is a QB that has won many big games in the SEC, and is a true dual threat QB. Is he perfect? Not by a long shot.

But anyone thinking that he wouldn’t be levels better than Emory is drinking some serious Kool-Aid.
