Dude he said she called me a boy I'm not a boy only men at this table the ticket said boys don't tip.................... yeah I'd say that meant he was offended by it

Ok but did he take it in a racist context or was he just being macho and didn't like being called a boy?

Do you not know/see the difference.

I'm not black but I can still say I'm offended by being referred to as a boy. You don't have to be black to be offended by "boy", you just have to be a macho douche.

Somebody with the bravado of Sapp would be offended by being called a boy, whether it was in a racial context or not. He never said anything about it offending him racially.

If he said it offended him racially then I would slightly understand, but to my knowledge he hasn't. Therefore, I come to the conclusion that it offended him because he feels like he's a big badass "man" and should be greeted as such. (which is highly likely considering that's his personality)

And there is the problem.

We as black men are telling you that it is very inappropriate to be called "Boy" and you refuse to listen.

How are you going to tell another race what offensive to them.

I hang out with nothing but black dudes. (with a few white and latin guys mixed in)

And NEVER heard any one of my boys get offended by the word...

Oh wait! Can't call them my boys. SMH

Ran into a similar example at breakfast today. Female server addressed my mother in law as madam. All 4 of us chose to recognize it as the polite interpretation rather than assuming she was referring to her as an older woman who manages a brothel, escort service or some other form of prostitution, that is, a procuress.

Imagine after that stressful introduction, we ordered, ate, paid including tip, and then left - without incident.

That is all fine and dandy. But as a black man I am not going to allow someone to call me a boy.

What are you gonna do?

****.

Cause I bet you been called "boy" in the same context as Sapp was a million times.

The word "boy" is thrown around all the time and it's never a problem. Now some famous football player has a problem with it and all the wannabe Al Sharptons come out of the woodwork.

There's a big difference between a white person being racist and a black person LOOKING for racism.

Hey guys what can I get you to drink...... works.......hey fellas what ya having what would you like to drink?....... works..........

No this women chose to call a table full of black men BOYS LOL OK SURE SHE DIDN'T MEAN ANYTHING BY IT

You're as dense as Sapp is if you think that the ditsy little white girl knows the difference.

SMH

You know them............... I tell you what go up to the next black male over 30 because Sapp is that you don't know and say "hey BOY I need some help. Let us all know how that work. Lol

I wanna know where yall are from. Seriously.

I been working with black folks my whole life. Playing ball with black folks my whole life. Worked at a majority black school for trouble youths. And I'm into custom cars so my secondary hobby, next to football, leaves me around tons of black dudes. I'm the ONLYwhite guy on my semi-pro football team. Literally, the only one.

NEVER. EVER. Have I ever seen the word "boy" become an issue. I have a loose mouth but the only word I refrain from using is the "N" word, out of respect. I'm 99% positive I've used the word "boy" or referred to my teammates/friends as my "boys" a million times and it's never been an issue.

Soooo because she didn't know that makes everything better................. lol ok

So if I go to court I can tell the judge hey I didn't know So everything's ok lol

Clearly, the context in how it is said plays a role in the reaction one will get.
And what makes you think that only black men would get offended by being called a "boy".. Call any man that in an improper context and they'll get offended.

Let me guess, he's gonna whoop my ***, right? Cause he's the big, bad, offended black man and I'm the little helpless white boy? (we'll ignore the fact that I'm the size of Sapp and in better shape)

Thing is, I wouldn't greet ANYBODY like that, cause it's rude in general. This goes back to CONTEXT, something you've yet to understand.

"Hey boy, I need some help" is rude in context.
"What can I get you boys to drink" is a very common greeting used by servers and is not meant to be offensive. I've been greeted that way a million times.

I would get offended if somebody walked up to me and said "Hey boy".

That's a terrible example.

That's where this ends.

You know them you STUPID FUCHER............. Friends Strangers Friends Strangers two different words

Again...

Has Sapp said ANYTHING about being offended in a racial context?

(or are the black folks using that as a reason to condone Sapp's actions?)

Cause I haven't heard/seen Sapp say anything about race.

You dumb *****, I'm not just referring to MYSELF using the word "boy", I'm talking about it being an issue PERIOD. If it was a real issue you'd think I'd know, right? Since I mostly hang out with black folks.

CONTEXT!!!!!!

Jesus Christ!

Knowing about laws and black man insecurities are two separate things.

Here's the thing.. Warren is an ADULT, a grown MAN. Adult men should know how to handle these situations better, more maturely and not like a boy.. Looks like the waitress was on queue with that one huh?
