Ryan Williams Hurt

Oh goodie, now folks who loved to bash Williams can now bash Crow. Number 13 is in the room!

Glad to know that uninformed bias is not personal and is transferable. Despair not Isaac Hoza!

Whether people like it or not Crow is going to be the second string QB going into the season. Had Kaaya been here for the Spring maybe he would have enough of a grasp of the system with his talent to earn the spot, but I don't think he will pick it up soon enough.

A young hotshot qb is what this program needed. Whether he pans out or not, we don't know but suddenly there is more excitement around the program and for the season. Obviously you don't want what happened to Williams, but olden should have been the starter for this team regardless of William getting injured IMO.

People will start hating on Olsen right after his first 3 int performance. Which is more likely than not. Right now I sure hope he grows up in a hurry. He has the talent.

They'll hate on his girlfriend after his first incompletion.

IMO baloney, without any supporting argument. But yes, there is excitement which will either be justified by performance or not.

Honestly this is going to be Goldens next excuse

Feel terrible for Ryan

By the end of the year Golden will have Williams sounding like Tom Brady and Joe Montana's love child.

"Obviously Joe we never want to make excuses, but anytime you lose a future NFL HOF QB like Ryan Williams it hurts what we're trying to do on the field. Honestly it goes a lot deeper than just the offense. We allowed 74ppg but if we would have had Ryan we could have had a better TOP on offense and got that number down to 55ppg easily."

Feel absolutely horrible for Williams. Seems like a good kid and he's been waiting a while for this shot.

But there's some truth in the post above. Zero doubt in my mind that the Williams ACL becomes the new "cloud". That's what corporate guys do...they find possible excuses to act as a "CYA" and keep that **** stored in their back pocket for when the **** hits the fan.

All I gotta say is, THANK GOD WE HAVE DUKE, YEARBY and GUS!

OLine better ball out this year too!

Tough way to go out and I feel bad for the young man. Having said that, I didn't expect much from any of our QB's this year, but hopefully I'm wrong on that. As long as Crow (it's somewhat funny how people don't think much of his ability after I took crap for saying as much since we took his verbal) doesn't hit the field, we have a fighting chance I suppose.

Why should he have been the starter? Have you been at the scrimmages? Are you tracking his numbers in practice? Watching his practice film?

The dude literally just got his **** together after being called out for not working hard and being suspended just a couple of months ago and left at home for a bowl game. So in 3 months, you think he should be the stater over Williams because of.....you have to take the opposite side of every Golden decision.

Your hate for Golden is clouding what little judgement you actually had left. You are more of a fan of hating on Golden (again, not a huge fan either) than you are of this team.

Just need a QB in the Alex Smith type mold.

Ground and pound and a guy who won't turn the ball over. A guy who can put the ball in the hands of the playmakers and let them do their thing.

Keeps our defense off the field as much as possible too.

You must not remember Alex Smith at Utah. Guy was phenomenol.

If you are looking for a more accurate analogy, think Trent Dilfer when he won The Super Bowl with The Ravens.

That's who, I believe, would have been the perfect analogy for what RW was going to be this season. The ultimate game manager.

Now we have the hot shot young guy, with all the talent in the world, but who still needs to mature and gain full grasp of the play book.

Olsen has summer and fall to become the qb we need and hopefully more.
No summer break kid. Gather the receivers every day for throwing sessions and it's dinner every night with Coley to pore over the play book.

There are very few college teams that can lose their #1 QB and not suffer significant repercussions. Miami is no different.

Spin it any way you want, but losing RW is a blow to the UM football team.

I hate it for RW, I hate it for the Canes.

That said, stuff happens. So....Onward!

I'm thinking more of the mold of Alex Smith the last three years. Efficient completion percentages and minimal turnovers.

Oh noes I thought Olsen should start. Clearly its just an opinion that others on this site share.

I know seeing my posts rustles your jimmies but lets not turn this into a *****fest about how good you think Golden's *** tastes.

Good one. An opinion based on what?

If Golden would rather start a one legged Stephen Morris over Ryan Williams, then thats pretty telling. Olsen according to all reports has the tools. So I say let the young guy start, give the program a boost and lets see what happens. Clearly Golden has more info than any of us and will make the decision he believes gives the team the best chance to win and I hope those decisions are all correct.

Again, just an opinion.

A few things....

1. This injury is not a good thing. I don't care if you want Williams or Olsen (or someone else) to start. It doesn't hurt to have a healthy 5th year senior with game experience as a backup.

2. This now likely forces a decision rather than a natural decision. I prefer the starter (regardless of who it is) to separate themselves BASED ON PLAY and not because of an injury.

3. This now gives Golden an "excuse." Is this real life? Do the fans really think this? If Golden lays an egg this season, he is gone. This doesn't change his decision to keep his DC. He recruited Olsen, Kaaya, Rosier and Crow. He wanted all of these things, possibly not this quickly, but he wanted these players. Injuries are part of the game, we saw big ones last season (Duke Johnson), the season doesn't stop because of injuries.

There is plenty of time to prepare with Olsen as the QB. If your going to lose the starter better NOW (with 5 months before the season) than a week before the season. So everyone cut the bull ****.

Just win baby!

Agree 100%. Great post.

Define laying an egg. Because from where I sit that is going to have to be one giant egg to get him fired. An 8 win season he stays. Probably 50 50 if they win 7 he stays.
