Ryan Williams Hurt

Here's hoping Ryan has a successful recovery. Certainly feel for the kid. Tough, tough break. Looking forward to seeing if Olsen can fulfill his considerable promise.

**** this sucks. Next man in. If Olsen is truly the chosen one then hopefully this will be a blessing in disguise. Just sucks for Ryan. Get well soon.

#UM #Canes source tells Miami Herald that QB @RWi11iams is upbeat as I write this & "looking forward to starting this fall."

A partially torn ACL WITHOUT surgery requires a 3 mos recovery time and even then there is often an issue with instability (which is already making me nauseous thiniking about Morris' ankle never being right). If the kid needs surgery then talk about him being back in time to start is more than likely extremely wishful thinking or him meaning burning a medical redshirt (that's in play here, right?) more than halfway through the season. Good luck to him nonetheless.

does Williams need surgery?

Berrios tore his ACL but is able to walk already i believe.

*** this has wide reaching ramifications.
With Williams and Olsen being 1&2, pretty sure Kaaya was destined for a redshirt year putting a 1 year seperation in class between him and Olsen.
Now that doesn't seem likely to happen unless Williams recovers quickly.

Agree. RW may be upbeat but he's not going to be getting any reps, while Olsen will be in there building that confidence and that mastery of the offense. Since he will also be taking most of the first team reps, he will strengthen the bond with his team mates.

Let's face it, RW has been Wally Pipped.

Not necessarily.
Olsen will need all the reps during games.
Even in blow outs he needs the reps to learn to finish strong.

It's conceivable that Kaaya won't need to play at all, unless something unspeakable happens.

man this sucks. torn acl usually rerquire 6 months of rehab after surgery before you can start playing contact sports again, i know cuz im still rehabing my acl and meniscus tear. The way it looks, esp if kayaa or olsen live up to expectations, ryan williams will never play another down of college football again, which is upsetting :(

I know everybody loves to hate on Crow, but we need him to develop into a serviceable backup. UM is much better of if Kaaya can shirt this fall. Unless he's good enough to win the job outright, but that isn't a realistic expectation. Good luck to Williams in his recovery. He's a team player with a great attitude who has already made Olsen (his competition) a better player. He seems like the type of kid with the right attitude and work ethic to come back from a bad break like this.

It's not fair. That's my quarterback......

It's being reported that Williams needs surgery. Hate to say it but even the most optimistic outcome is 6 months going on the Adrian Peterson timeframe. Unless Olsen completely ***** the bed and Kaaya and Rosier aren't ready like most true freshman then I don't see him getting a chance as the starting QB at Miami. Really tough break. It's time for Olsen to shine.

After I ruptured my acl, the real issue was psychological.
Took me a lot longer than 6 months before I was comfortable jumping again, and to this day 20 years later, I still make sure I land on two feet.

Even if Kaya plays some next year, he can red shirt the year after, if Williams gets a medical and Olsen shows its his job, as Williams would then be the back up, so in 3 years there will be seperation again.

this..one thing is the physical healing..but the mental part can linger and be a major factor
