Ryan Mayes to Miami Bat Signal Confirm

Several points here:

1. Coach Field has coached at UM during up times here. He knows what UM-caliber players look like.

2. As Bytch Davis has said many times, the key to great recruiting is finding guys who aren't even close to their ceiling. When a dude shows up with no phone wearing a wife beater, it's probably safe to assume that his nutrition and strength training regimens are not world-class. Guys like this can be put in a great nutrition and weight program and get some top-level corching and turn into Ed Reed or Philip Buchanon.

3. Hungry tough head-nodders are what built this program. Entitled, unaccountable, roll-the-helmet-with-the-U-on-it-out-there-and-expect-the-other-team-to-quit guys are what ruined this program.

4. The Don learned his lesson last cycle. He isn't going to allow the pampered "show-me-more-love-or-I'll-pout" and "I'm going to wait till signing day and play a ***gy game with hats" guys to fvck him by the tail again. Fool me once shame on you; fool me twice shame on me.

#4 can't be anymore right.

Better players according to who? Because clearly the staff has different opinions.

People really think they would offer a kid this early if they didn't think he was as good as a Lammons or Patten?

Well, we know that Golden and staff have told both of those players they are on top of their board. I think our staff has the right to recruit who they want at what position they want. They don't have to answer to anyone outside of that room. I'm just saying if he's going to take this kid and the kid from Dillard over those guys then they need to develop them into good players.

As for me, I watch as much film as I can on these kids and read a lot of evaluations. That doesn't make me an expert at all, but I at least like to be informed. I know I'm not coach Golden but I am entitled to my opinion on who I like and don't like. I trust Coach G, but we have to win and win big with these types of players before I trust the method. There is risk in taking any kid, but when you see a kid with NO offers that no one even knows about you have to at least question what's going on. Our defensive backfield for 2014 are all under the radar kids; that's perfectly fine if we can win with them.

No disrespect, but Golden ain't no spring chicken or run of the mill talent evaluator.

This ain't Randy Shannon out here offering Delmar Taylor and Asante Cleveland.

Brilliant post. +1

the only thing is Chise, I'm not cool with calling Butch a *****. a liar maybe. But the man that built the greatest dynasty and collective talent in modern day college football is no *****. not trying to throw a wet blanket on a great post but had to say

I still cant believe u guys dont understand The Golden's system. After a few years Golden will have nothing but redshirt Juniors and Seniors on the 2 deep. A guy like this has the tools, tall physical guy for a DB. Give him a redshirt, a couple of Utoughs and by his third year he is in tuned to college and he has filled out. The last 2 class of DBs we brought in means, we will not have to rely on FR to play much unless we get really stricken by injuries. Some of you are very shortsighted like the recruiting sites. They act as if what kids are now is what they are gonna be eventually! Golden and staff has proven they can develop players. If this was a Shannon pick up i would be very worried. Not with Golden. They are scouting these kids with their own eyes. And lets not forget we are still bringing highly rated guys but some of these guys we sleep on are gonna be the key cogs on Championship teams. Just relax and watch. And Btw we can't be waiting to fill out our class with just players that are announcing late. We will end up with major depth problems if they all dont break for us

ryan mayes looks good, all the commits really look solid, its pretty impressive what the staff is doing, golden just gets it, so thankfull for a good coach. miami is definetly on its way back just a matter of time, there is so much talent in southflorida its crazy.

This could be a kid that slipped under the national radar because of what high school he went to or the fact that he didn't go to enough camps.

The kid is 6'1"-6'2" and can run. That's a good start. Then the coaches saw him in 1-on-1's during camp. What more is there to see?

Watch this kid's recruitment blow up within the next few months. Guaranteed.

mike smith
darrion owens
trayon gray
ryan mayes
dennis turner
chris herndon this is how i would rank the new commits we got what do u think? gray and mayes look like 4.3 4.4 turner looks like 4.5, owens 4.4 4.5 possibly

This is the type of kid that usually blows up at an out of state school like Louisville, West Virginia or Nebraska and we shake our head when they make plays and announcers like musberger say things like "I am sure the guys in coral gables are regretting letting this one go"

Owens #1. When all is said and done he might be the best player from this class in the state. Massive upside.

Idk but it seems to me Coach McDonald really wanted Mayes. Lol

Coach McDonald thought he had him

@brennanpcarroll: Was supposed to be tomorrow but, oh well. #WelcomeToTheU

@COACH_T_Y: Lol what's up Coach - RT @brennanpcarroll: Was supposed to be tomorrow but, oh well. #WelcomeToTheU

@CoachGMcDonald: @COACH_T_Y @brennanpcarroll SMH!

@CoachGMcDonald: #cusenation things just got real! Time to step up the efforts to secure a top flight class! #supportthecuse!

I trust Golden, bottom line. He isn't going to bat 1.000 but he wont be around the Mendoza Line, either

This guy has a plan, a system and over time, I really think it will yield huge results. What he did at Temple can be replicated with much larger success at UM, IMO. And I get the sense he now has a lay of the land and is really beginning to understand Dade County and it's dynamics

Just what took place at his last camp speaks volumes. Seriously, did Randy Shannon or LLLLLLLarry Coker ever have a weekend like that in the off-seasona/

The same folks who couldnt see incompetence when it was staring them in the face for 4 years are now struggling identifying competence.

Patience folks. Its coming. The weak link is and has always been the fanbase giving a ****.

The current staff will deliver the goods. Not sure about the " fans".

think the ONLY reason the kid was going unheralded is because he played @ Krop.

Add to it he just transferred to MNW....When scouts go to look at Smith,Jo Jo throughout the year..their going to want in on the 6'1 185 corner.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't, if we slow play him And the kid blows up and commits to an SEC school everyone complains we weren't on a stud in out backyard, they obviously like this guy, he plas at the West, let's go

An Alin Edouard type kid. I like it.

Raw materials to be a solid player. Very Honey Badger-ish, just seemed to make plays. Stripping the ball, swatting the ball, picking the ball, making clutch tackles, catching, a little some of everything.

By the time he is a RS junior, he'll be right.

its going to be interesting to monitor these kids during their senior seasons on field and in recruiting.. remember we were first to offer lammons then the kid just blew up.. a theme of these past few FL recruits is that they got the offer and couldn't wait more then a day to commit.. they want to be canes..im pretty jacked up

Amen. Would not be surpirsed to see Bama come in on him. He fits Saban's size profile. Remember in the day how all those high end short FSU coners could not cover our bigger WRs? If a WR is eating you up, someone has to smash him in the face. I remeber Larry Fitzgerald was likking us until Sean Taylor, may he rest in peace, move over to cover him. Suddenly, Larry's face was bleeding and no more catches after that. Welcome to THE U youn man.
