Im not saying this kid isn't good but why wouldn't you slow play him a bit?

Kids like this will always commit on the spot.

helps build demand and creates leverage when dealing with high profile prospects

Huh?

Less spots available (supply of schollies) = higher demand (for top recruits to want to come). ...Completely besides the point, he wouldn't have got an offer if he wasn't good enough to play at miami. Golden knows that he no longer works at temple, the staff realizes which kids deserve scholarships after seeing them in person, i have full faith in the staff that they see something special in all of these kids. Not to mention when some of these top recruits seeing everyone jumping on board with miami, it can't possibly hurt in any way

Or there are just less spots for better players.

Elite kids want to play with elite kids. We are damned if we do and damned if we don't because we also have to worry about recruiting enough South Florida kids to keep everyone happy. If Golden is going to take kids like this he better turn them into players. Elite kids aren't going to worry about their spot with Miami. They can pick one of the 15 other scholarship offers they have. Supply and demand doesn't work well at a program averaging 7 wins a year. Sorry but it' real

i would much rather take a lower rated athlete who works hard 247 over a 5 star who puts in no work and only worries about himself.

Better players according to who? Because clearly the staff has different opinions.

People really think they would offer a kid this early if they didn't think he was as good as a Lammons or Patten?

Looks like a corner to me all the way. I have no idea who this kid is, but put me in the camp that likes a few things about his film.

Well I can say this...

Carter
Burns
Lockley (hopefully)
Bush
Crawford
Jenkins

WE can afford to take some of these dade county boys that Al sees
has the tools and they can develop

The staff has proving they can develop talent we had a 5'7 lb playing in the middle of games at times

I am not a coach but I trust this staff a little more then myself

I have no idea who this kid is ...he is not even showing up on some of the other sites...but AL and the boys do
their homework on kids before and after camps...

I see your point and it is valid, but where are these elite kids lining up to join miamis recruiting class? I'm not sure on the numbers this year and how many we can take, but I highly doubt that the staff would allow us to over sell on schollies and miss out on the top targets that have not yet decided. All i'm trying to say is regarding the people who make a living complaining about recruits we do and don't get. The staff has seen these players in person and they are not idiots. Regardless of how many schollies we have, or how many people we have committed, If Lane, Cook, Clark, Valentine, etc. were to ask to be on the team, I'm pretty certain they would make room
