Ruiz stadium update

Everyone complaining about traffic is so obnoxious. Every stadium has traffic issues. STFU
If you are new to traffic going to major sporting events then you haven't been to big time football games. Qualcomm stadium in San Diego or Candle Stick in San Francisco anyone?

Oooooooooo; before The 9ers moved from Candlestick, I went to a Bears/9ers game there. Ouch on that traffic off Cesar Chavez & that 101??! Still the worst traffic I’ve ever been in, but it was all good. The new stadium in Santa Clara, was much better ONLY b/c there’s a hotel directly across the street.

So where in Coral Gables would that be without dislocating 3,000 kids per year within the district? When is the last time you've been to Gables High? Another high school on site? Yes, a stadium at the corner of Le Juene and Coral Way is viable. You ever drive that way when the school buses are heading into campus as well as students with cars? Throwing **** on a wall seeing if it will stick is not a plan.

Yes, on site. You could google his proposal yourself and save us both some time. He wanted to open the sports complex up for the high school to use, which I would have thought was badass when I was that age. His plan was to bulldoze the old school and build a new one vertical on site

its a 10 acre site. only the footprint of hard rock is 25 acres. hard to fit a 25 acre stadium on 10 acres. but that's the least of the issues.

anyone that suggests that a stadium can or should be built in coral gables should be banned forthwith and in perpetuity because it reveals that person's unsalvageable level of ignorance

You keep believing that nonsense. I stopped believing in the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus by the time I was six. I had older siblings who woke me up as my parents were putting together toys. A stadium at CGHS is equivalent to a unicorn. As has been mentioned, great location because proximity to campus. Other than that absolutamente nada as they like to say in Coral Gables.

Again you keep dogging the real issue. What roads will they use to get in and out?

Because if you say Bird rd. I'm going to laugh my *** off for years. LOL

Magic City Casino is what should get razed. There's room for a stadium and parking.

AND THE DIRT MALL DIRECTLY NORTH OF IT.

It's my "ideal site". A mile from the old OB, close to the soccer stadium, right off of 836, major surface roads in every direction.

Not to mention the fact that "replacment Coral Gables High" was a tiny piece of land (in comparison) and in no way would be an equivalent replacement for student capacity, traffic, or prime location.

On top of that, the "existing Coral Gables High" is a long, narrow piece of land that is NOT suited for a football stadium (width), let alone the parking, even if garages were built. PROXIMITY is awesome, but in all other regards, it would be a problematic location.
isnt the HS a historical landmark too?

Another stunningly relevant point for the Hard Rock Or Die Bros to ignore...
Apples vs Oranges comparison. More like better to rent vs own a 3rd home that you use for skiing and occasionally rent out for the summer to defray some of the annual cost of ownership.

Would you consider it better for UM to have Ruiz invest $500M into a stadium or take that $500M, invest it, and pledge the annual returns for NIL, coaches, facilities?

Please stop. It's not an either/or. Ruiz hasn't offered to make a $500M donation. He wants his name on a building. Not sure why this doesn't sink in with some people.

It's the same old hypothetical bullcrap, when people without Ruiz's money try to spend Ruiz's money for him.

If he wants to build a stadium, you let him do so. You don't try to convince him to spend his money on stuff he doesn't want to spend his money on, otherwise he just keeps that money in his bank account.

Then everyone would rent..
most do lol outside of college towns lol.

the heat rent the arena.

the marlins rent the stadium

the panthers rent the arena.

going to CFB -- temple rents, USC rents, etc.

its cheaper to rent than to own. fins own JRS bc Joe Robbie built it in the 80 using private funds.

How about you STFU you arrogant prick.

The theoretical $500M comes from somewhere so IDGAF if its Ruiz or 500 people spending money on a stadium ... that money would be better spent on NIL, coaches, support staff, and on-campus facilities.

Totally disagree with your commentary of "if he wants to spend his money blah blah blah". Its the job of the AD, Highsmith, and others to direct donors to make donations and investments in UMs future focusing on THE BEST USE OF THAT MONEY. If Jeff Shoffer wanted to honor his mother by building a $14M statute of her in front of the Hecht center would that have been a good use of those funds for UM, or finishing off the IPF?

Your entire persona in here is off the charts know-it-all *******. If I had to wager you're either an attorney or a Dr b/c you think you are the smartest guy in the room in every conversation.

Know whose family owns Magic City? The same person going at Ruiz in public with Billy Corben because he’s upset someone is finally spending money to update Hecht.
So? Someone wants a Five Families Meeting and a piece of the action.

I have been to several different stadiums. As mentioned above VT is not great. I went to the K State game in 2012 and although in the middle of nowhere it was a pain getting out of there. Any even where 30k or more people are gathering is going to have traffic issues.
When the ratio of game attendee to car approaches 1:1, you're going to be in the house of pain no matter if there is 99 lane highway to the parking lot. A dusting of creativity can facilitate some transit options. The closer to central, dense Miami the more commute options open up (Tri-Rail, Metrorail, Metromover, bus system).
