I’m not 100% sold on the park/multi use/bars concept in that area. It sounds real pretty when people are talking about it, the same way that Marlins Stadium was talked about before it was built. I know that’s a different situation, but these things are much more complex than people make them out to be.
Orange Bowl isn't leaving Hard Rock to play in a smaller venue.Question: would HRS keep the “Orange Bowl” (the actual game) or would that go to the new stadium?
My guess is it stays at HRS. All other major bowls are in NFL stadiums.Question: would HRS keep the “Orange Bowl” (the actual game) or would that go to the new stadium?
Marlins Stadium is closer to the Grove than Tropical park but I see what your saying.Tropical Park also has the Grove, Miracle Mile and breweries already in close proximity. Has that going for it off the bat. There's nothing by Marlins Park. It'd be nice to see that stretch of Bird developed with the stadium as a catalyst.
I know, all dreams at the moment.
I was just referring to what’s been talked about. It’s been 48-55k something close to Louisville’s Stadium. If it’s 65k, 1 I don’t think it will fit, 2 they’re going to need 10,000 more spots or a railway to the stadium.so we're going to have 48,000 seats. Great we're UCF now. LOL
I wish more stadiums were designed to have added capacity for bigger games. Not some cheap metal stands on wheels but like a liget section that would be hidden pop up or a mechanism that would roll them from under the larger sections.. I think seeing a game on TV with a lot of empty seats reduces peoples desire to buy tickets.Awesome if it were to happen...think 65K might be too large. Hard Rock is about that, 64,767 and I've seen the Canes sellout less than 5 times since moving there. A replica of the Grandest lady, the OB would be nice. Start with 55 - 57K and have the open-end concept to where you bring in seating bringing seating to 65K for the marquee games.
I always hear about concerts at football stadiums. How many concerts does the average football stadium host per year? Average, not pointing out one field that does a lot.bowl game, plus concerts, pro soccer exhibitions, etc... they aren't pouring all that money just for 6-8 days a year. Not arguing either way, just stating in his current comments, that entire park is shut down when big events are going on.
I’ve been following this discussion and have politely declined to participate, except for this part.
The idea of students walking tropical park is absurd, it’s not going to happen no matter how you measure out the distance, even if it’s “only“ 2.5 miles, which actually is closer to four miles, and it’s walking on shltty narrow sidewalks (where there are even sidewalks).
Let’s keep it real, that’s not going to happen.

Basically telling residents they can't use their parkSooo. Another county issue may be, on game days (satrdays), the entire rest of the park is shut down due to traffic and parking being taken up by canes. Saturday is the busiest day of the week for that park (bdays, picnics, support a cause events, little league, adult softball, youth soccer, basketball, fitness folks, etc..) yes all those facilities are there, but based on what he’s saying, they are depending on taking all the lots around the park.
Come on ... there are quite a few power 5 stadiums that are even below 50,000 capacity. Anyway ... if Ruiz is able to build it he is saying it will have more than 60,000 capacity ... which is what we have at Hard Rock. I drive 300 miles each way for UM games ... at Hard Rock. The extra 25 miles isn't a factor ... but the CONGESTION in those 25 miles is a huge factor. I can cover those 300 miles in 3.5 hours. On a Saturday it will take another hour with the crazy Miami traffic to get to Tropical Park. I normally grab a hotel in Fort Lauderdale on game day. Will have to change to a Miami hotel ... and maybe get one the night before just not to deal with the game day hassle. Whatever ... will believe it when I see it. Sounds like an amazing venue if it is ever built. No you're not. I go to the games with a giant UM Alum group and they all say the same thing. Hard Rock is Perfect!
But if they can build an amazing stadium with a roof at Tropical Park it's a win win. Yes that roof needs to be replicated. I'm just afraid we're going to have the smallest stadium in the Power 5. That would be pathetic.
But would U2 play at this park or HRS? With the reno to HRS I would say the stadium issue was largely resolved. This huge sum of cash would be better used in NIL to wrap up the number 1 class every year for the next 20.Who knows, but I would bet that outdoor concerts are more prevalent in Florida than they are in other states.
It would, but I think it stays at HRSIf the Ruiz Stadium is 65K, that is almost identical to the downsized Hard Rock.
This has a retractable roof, too. So you can host a major event and not worry about rain or sun.Who knows, but I would bet that outdoor concerts are more prevalent in Florida than they are in other states.
It all depends on club level seating and designs. We will know more in August. It would, but I think it stays at HRS
More than a facelift but I agreeIt all depends on club level seating and designs. We will know more in August.
Ruiz family isn’t too impressed with certain variables at HRS. It is an old stadium with a face lift. I think they want to build something more advanced in many ways.
That is fair but seats are very far away from field and each other. This new stadium will be the complete opposite.More than a facelift but I agree
