Buddy he offered to renovate, or more likely build, at no cost to the school or taxpayers, a new state-of-the-art much improved Coral Gables HS either as a part of it or at a designated site that was nearby. I think they own the land or something. as well as sports facilities for the Dade schools.

I am not saying this is a viable location or initiative for a stadium, but this isn't an anti-CGHS initiative, its a PRO-CGHS initiative. They would move into the big leagues facilities-wise. It's a 72 year-old building as it stands.

On that note, Ruiz says building a stadium for UM that's more centrally located will be a huge success for the University and surrounding schools. "If you look at Miami Dade public schools a lot of them don't have any facilities to play. This could be a state-of-the-art location where you have basketball, tennis, swimming, it could be revolutionary," said Ruiz.

"There is a major misconception that the school is going to be demolished to make this happen," said Diana Diaz, Co-Chair of the Stadium Committee. Ruiz says the 13-acre stadium may fit with the school in its current location, but there is a possibility that it would be torn down and relocated.

But I clarified what Ruiz was proposing, because what was being said was inaccurate, whether it's realistic, smart, viable, or not. It belied my first statement in no way whatsoever, because those two things are not mutually exclusive.

Honest question to what level do you think THE U is involved with Ruiz right now? As far as planning and possible ownership... I have to think he needs their support before he moves forward because if he's just offering them to be a tenant, that's not much different than Ross in my view

Remember when Mario was hired and we heard all sorts of chatter about how they know each other well, the family connection? Then remember Ruiz immediately downplayed that in interviews, and has consistently stated publicly about how LITTLE contact he has with Mario and the U now, for all to hear?

However, just knowing HKS, their work, reputation, being on site first hand to see the work done; if HKS is involved, it’s serious. It’s more than just a pipe dream. This is literally a preeminent global architecture firm. Again, not saying it will or won’t happen, but HKS is not interested in fairy tails.

People are projecting their own hubris and selfish values about the Ruiz'. They should keep their mouths shut and not make assumptions about others. Especially others that are a cornerstone of our return to relevance. While I don't doubt that the Ruiz' would be honored by having their family name on the stadium, we certainly don't know that they are aiming for that, and we especially don't know that it's the motivating factor here. He might be excited to create another lasting revenue stream for the U by letting them sell naming rights. The guy is incredibly generous. He's donated a lot of money to UM over the years, and I don't see his name on anything yet. You'd be surprised how many people actually don't really care about that stuff. Universities received a LOT of big money donations that are actually kept anonymous as an example.

It would be nice to respond directly, but the Maudes and Mods should simply take note that I did NOT start anything here, this is yet another pathetic attack on me by someone with zero impulse control.

Instead of lavishing my tongue on the collective Ruiz family undercarriage, I acknowledge that John Ruiz and his family are human beings, not beatified saints who are "honored" to have their names on things that they pay money for. Everyone knows that they want legacy, everyone knows the game here, but some are going to use that as cover to attack posters they don't like.

It's just a sad, sad day to watch a pathetically thirsty and jealous porster take EVERY POSSIBLE OPPORTUNITY to express pettiness, with random upvotes and downvotes, DM-begging to Maudes to avoid being put on enforced ignore so as to see and attack my posts, and crying out in fake exaggerated pain any time someone has the unmitigated gall to respond after he has pre-arranged Maude/Mod protection for himself.

Maudes and Mods, if you want to delete both posts, feel free to do so. It's not my intent to taint the board with an ongoing jihad, but I continue to be hit with unprovoked attacks by one particular porster who will never let go of his bitterness.
