Ruiz addresses Shalala

What about this area I have highlighted on the NE corner of campus? With all of the new dorms being constructed on campus, are Mahoney Pearson really needed anymore? Those dorms are an old eyesore. If you knock them down and can somehow relocate the West Lab Elementary school (I would imagine relocating a small elementary school is more conceivable than a large, 3k+ student high school), there's a good amount of space available. There's also a large empty field directly on the east side of the area I have circled. Just an idea.

One of the best things about the OB and I assume about Hard Rock is that every student that wants to go to a game can. Unlike FSU, UF, etc., where you have to win a lottery. I have been walking into stadiums in Lincoln/Tally where you see students walking away because they couldn’t get tickets. If you think a 50k stadium, will allow every student to attend then you probably also believe the paja mental of moving CGHS and building a stadium in the middle of Coral Gables.

The Mayor and City Commission of Coral Gables are totally against the idea of a stadium in the City. It will be tough sledding.

Shalala wasn't good for Miami football. But she was great for the school and help turn UHealth into a monster that is paying dividends now.

I like and appreciate that Ruiz is willing to spend his money (although, if you know anything about insurance attorneys, his business, etc his saying you would laugh a bit at that). But the idea of him financing a stadium, especially one in Coral Gabkes at the location of Coral Gables High School is laughable and ridiculous. So much so that you have to wonder if it's a part of some sort of scam lol. I would love a closer, mini Orange Bowl. But that's the least of my concerns. If the Canes win, Hard Rock Stadium is as good an atmosphere as any. Just go back to that game against Notre Dame. I don't think the Irish ever had an experience like that in an opposing stadium.
I beg to disagree on UHealth... that monstrosity bled cash for years and nearly bankrupted the university... if it wasn't for the govt bailouts, it would have been the biggest white elephant project in school history....
Fortunately with Federal funding from Obamacare and the current crisis pours in money to the Health system and saved it. Nothing to do with her planning.

Frankly, Miami would be better off waiting for the Marlins to inevitably move(Eventually they are going to have to, they have lost the fanbase, and the new stadium sheen is wearing off), and taking back the OB site.
And build it back exactly like the classic Miami Orange Bowl: metal bleachers, tiny concession stands, overflowing toilets -- all of its glory brought back to life.

Exactly. I don’t want a ****** college stadium with concrete and bleachers for seats. And newer stadiums, especially smaller ones like they want to build are erector set bleachers like UCF or FIU.
You from Broward?

He will be a problem, dude screams Try Hard. Unfortunately, the idiots amongst us are easily wowed by a dude flapping his gums about things that he knows nothing about. Ever notice that the Soffers and the consistent money never say anything? There's a reason why, they aren't out there trying to be loved, they are merely trying to do what's right for the University.

This is such a garbage take.

Such a problem that he's ONE OF THE BIGGEST REASONS we were able to even land Mario. His financial backing unified guys like Lemonis and Mas to join the battle as well. It was just a year ago that Lemonis was tweeting out stupid **** like "It's all about the E, not the W's". Now the guy does an about-face and is all on-board with change and trying to build a winning football program.

Not to mention, BOTH Jimmy Johnson and Alonzo Highsmith each thought enough of Ruiz the person to join the stadium committee, and attach their names to the cause as well.

You're obviously a Donna apologist. Fact of the matter is this fanbase owes Ruiz a debt of gratitude. He's done more for this program in the last 5 months than our inept and incompetent administration did in TWENTY YEARS.

Yeah, it may not work but respect dude for thinking big.
Yep.. I doubt the stadium goes up there if any stadium at all is built but the fact he went public with a reaction like that is awesome....
