Richardson gone, RB coach search Thread (Lockette, Bennett?)

Soldinger is the best RB coach in college football history, he lives down the block and still loves the U!

Both these guys would jump due to the pay increase. Gotta make sure they are into the job with their hearts instead of their wallets. Shammins guys, Harris and Bell, were wallet guys.

Lockette. Needs to happen. Cook and Yearby for sure would be Canes. We'd find out if Sony really meant that he wants competition.

More I think about this, more I think Golden hires a black high school head coach to head off any criticism that was aired in his direction recently.

Soldinger is not gonna happen. Lockette and Bennett are interviewing today so I am guessing we will hear who the new coach is on Monday. Like people have been saying, maybe we pick up both with Bennett taking Brown's position

I'd go with Lockette or Irvin. Sed has already had jobs at the college level and will honestly pull any recruit he wants at Miami. No local kid will ever leave Miami to be honest with you.

If you can get a highly regarded local coach who is a great recruiter and also happens to be black, I can't see why not.

Swagger, point one is right on the money. A coach on the old staff told me this happened when Miami hired Ice Harris. The jealousy was out of control.

If hiring Lockette assures us of getting Cook and other inner city kids, sign the man up!

/no idea if he can coach RBs

Who you think is coaching the RB's at Central? I am thinking he has to be good at that and hopefully will help us land Cook and other local stud RB's in the future.

That's why Irvin makes more sense if you go the local route. He doesn't coach in the inner city and to be honest the coaches in the southern part of Miami don't seem like the pansy *** ***gots coaching in Liberty City/Overtown.

Sed would all but guarantee Tim Irvin, Ermon Lane and Jaquan Johnson ending up here too.

All Sed has to do is replay Mark Ingram's Heisman speech and say yeah, I can get you there.

Not so sure on Yearby.
I heard Yearby's mentor/handler what ever you want to call him was boys with James Coley from back in high school, was one of the reasons he went up there. Figured if that was the case Yearby might be looking our way anyway. When you add in his HS coach potentially as his new position coach we'd have to become pretty interesting to him.

I have a lot of admiration for Trevor Harris after listening to his interview making Sileo look like the idiot he is.
A black local coach who has been here for 26 years, loves Al and the U and knows South Florida HS football as well as anybody. He doesn't have to be an expert in RB coaching.
Would be interesting name to toss around.

all due respect to Mr. Harris, I can't remember the last time that Edison was good

You get Yearby, you don't get Michel. No way we haul in Cook/Michel/Yearby. Yearby is the one I want least from that list.

I'd love something great to happen for Bennett because he's a UM hero after the Coley recruitment.

But I want the one with the most connections in S FL who is the best potential recruiter. Don't know which guy that is because I don't know either one personally.

Hire them both. Seems like we have half the coaches of other major programs.
