Quick Update & Recruiting Q&A: Pierre,Cunningham, etc.

Gant is not from S. Fla. and Stevenson lines up at CB. Battle is the best FS in S.FLA. (Monroe, Dade, Broward, Palm). Stevenson is the best cb prospect ive seen. He has FS potential as well..but if you ca get alockdown guy like that at cb..why move him if he commits?. Especially how we have been flopping around at recruiting cbs.

Dafug? We just locked down 3 4 star recruits and a high risk high reward kid like Bethel who's blazing fast and long. How the **** is that flopping around? Plus Bandy the year before who was one of the best FR CBs in the country.

Everyone so shook by the AH duo leaving town that we've all done lost our minds. The biggest blow to our CB corps is the loss of Malek Young not those AH clowns, something NO ONE could have predicted. A top 3 of Young, Jackson, and Bandy, with Dean, Ivey, Frierson and Blades and Bethel is one **** of a CB depth chart.

lol you realize that we haven't done away with the strong safety position right? Keontre Smith is a strong safety. He's also the best safety not named Stevenson in Florida this year too (with the exception of Gant since i havent seen his film yet). Battle is razor thin with pipe cleaners for arms - dude is nowhere near the top 3 safeties, he's a distant 4th.
I have not at all forgotten that there are two safety positions. I just don't think Smith is a true safety prospect. I think he's more of a S/LB hybrid.

Secondly, and I've said this before, I think on this very thread, our entire defensive philosophy has been 9 guys being super aggressive trying to create havoc while our safeties are the 2 conservative players who are primarily tasked with playing 2 deep and erasing any mistake. Thats what we are defensively. I don't see that changing with us looking like we're going to be running more 425. If anything I think it'll push Diaz to use the S's even more conservatively because he won't want to cheat the SS up when we have that Striker out over the WR.

Which of Jaquan and Redwine is the true SS? Neither. The point is Our 2 safeties can be viewed as interchangeable. We don't need a box safety in this defense - thats what the Striker position is for now. In this defense we run Battle can be the SS while Richards is the FS. And Amari Carter is the SS while Gurvan is the FS.

I agree with keepin Stevenson at corner. If he’s one of those kids who actually prefers to play corner over safety but he’s not expressing that to the staff might come back to bite us in the end.

Absurd statement considering you hardly even see him in coverage in his highlight tape. Plus there are some outstanding safeties in Florida

If you’re gonna be nuthugging, at least spell his name right though

Theres another kid from the la area weve got onto lately. Ill get his name. Our back up plans are basically a bunch of committed kids. Mertz would be a great flip as i think hes the pride of this class.
Hank Bachmeier?

GTFOH with Randy Russel Light.

Smith is 10 times the athletes Russell is/was (did Russell have a Baga offer?).

I would like to see Battle in this class at FS, but I would say that both Stevenson (could play CB but is a FS) and Gant are the best FSs in FL.

Smith is the top SS on our board, and with us utilizing the Rover/Striker position in our 4-2-5, his versatility will be huge.

I also agree that Sanguinetti could be a great CB, but may end up a better FS down the road (don't know if he has the speed to stay at CB when he continues to add weight).

He is also heavier than 170 lbs right now (those are old weights listed).

Aren’t you supposed to be an insider? You’re ragging on sanguinetti for his build, which is fair enough, but somehow you’re sucking off battle who is almost as tiny? If the Italian is only 165, battle isn’t a pound over 170. His arms are literal pipe cleaners.
Not agreeing with the whole putting Sango down thing but Battle is 6’1” 187 officially.

Sango not 6’2” either. Closer to 6’0” but still has very long arms and range.

I have to agree with this on Keontra. Randy wasn’t nearly as athletic nor as fast as Keontra is. Seen both in the same settings, game and camp.

Also I forgot which camp it was at but Sango came in about 5’11”-6’0” 165-170. Nothing wrong with that anyways, he has very long arms and great range. Just don’t think he’s a safety though. He can play inside and out at corner.

keontra smith is a good football player, we need to get these type of kids period who love Miami...

There’s another OOS QB they are going to get on soon but I was told not to say anything yet. He came down to a rival school camp a few years ago here and tore it up.

His weight has been listed at that..because thats what he keeps weighing in at camps. He plays basketball, likely does track...Probably cant bench press the bar.lol. When he focuses in on one sport and get to college his weight will come. He appears to be the long limbed cbs that we like to recruit. Like him as a cb, dont see the safety business people trot out.

BM is a whole different animal. He was 170-175 but bringing it at safety and a pseudo lb position at Apopka. It was never a queston on his physicality. They have different body types
Yes. Sango plays basketball at USchool.

I agree with this with proof because there is, but I do think Stevenson has a higher ceiling at FS than Battle. When Stevenson has played safety for S Dade, especially Columbus game. He completely took over the game, haven’t seen anyone like that since... yeah I don’t want to say his name but Stevenson is legitimately the best DB prospect to come out of Dade in a long time.

The coaches are recruiting Rique as a safety right now actually, which goes hand in hand with what I said.

But Battle does have more experience there.

Keontra really is the best box/SS in the state this year.

Right so differentiate between the two .. similar size similar speed I give the slight nod to Crowley explosion out of stance and feet BUT McIntosh seems to have longer runs (big run ability) per his highlights and breaks more tackles

What say you?

Similar size yes, but different styles. Crowley is more of your traditional bigger back w/long strides. The classic one cut slasher who will punish in open field and once he gets going really has deceptive speed for his size. Stretch runs will suit him best as moves further up in the career. Lacks wiggle but that's no surprise at his size. Is okay out of the backfield, but you can tell he's not a natural catcher & will fight the ball. Great frame, big lean kid who once is in a college weight program will be a monster physically. Think Eddie George in terms of playing style (not saying he's Eddie George, but styles are similar).

McIntosh has elite balance and feet. He's a rare pocket runner at his size (Sanders is as well), which makes them both so unique. He can run too high at times, which most bigger backs do when they're younger, but because of his balance & feet he gets away with it. He's an explosive athlete - quick twitch and sudden. The reported 40 times are a head scratcher because he is an explosive athlete, not sure if they're from bad timing or he's just never really trained to run (Not saying he'll ever run in the low 4.4s, but with the type of athlete he is he should be in the 4.45-4.55 range). Normally being a pocket runner at his size would have me most excited, but it's his ability out of the backfield that is most impressive. He has exceptional hands, but he also runs great routes. Looks as if he's trained with WR groups. Big kid, who from all things we know seems to be a hard worker w/a good head on his shoulders, but if he got lazy he has the type of frame that could blow up on him.

Both are very good, but in terms of style they are different players. I'm very happy w/Crowley already on board, but the two potential crown jewels of this class at the position are Sanders & McIntosh.

Now wasn't this much better than just calling someone lazy and accusing them of not knowing anything? It's ok to disagree, but next time add to the convo as you have some good stuff to bring to the table.

I'll have to watch their film again with your comments in mind. Appreciate your thoughts on the two kids

We have lost out on MANY future NFL draft picks at CB in the last 3 classes. Theres a different between being good, and being ELITE. Due to our location we literally have the most ELITE skill positions in the country..not even up for debate. And i might be one of the only guys high on Bethel other than DMONEY on the board.

Yall sugar coat and homer it out..i dont. Last class we lost out on 2 kids that will be 3 and out if they dont f up off the field. Slow played the wrong kids..or evaluated others wrong. Due to location we could do that and STILL land 3 - 4 star recruits. Its that simple. I followed recruiting when we turned away 4 star kids at skill positions..we are real close back to that...would have already been if we originally hired a veteran db coach
