QBS in the Portal as of 11/28

d8mn cal lost their highly rated qb to Oregon just a week ago and now Mendoza? Sheesh

Dang, I'm kind of sold now especially the spend all the moneys on the defense part.

He also throws a nice back shoulder fade.

He’ll be surround him with a very good OL, skill guys and run game. He’s never has anything like this. Get him at a home town discount then go spend on the defense. If we’d had a guy like this two years ago versus a turnover machine at qb we likely win double figures and play for the Acc.

All I was trying to do was refute the point that Mendoza is a statue by pointing out that he and Cam had the same amount of rushing yards when sack yards were discounted. Statues don't run for 350 yards in a season from the QB postion, was all I was saying. But am 100% done with both these arguments now. Everyone else can carry on if they like.

Oh I wasn’t talking about that point. Mendoza isn’t Brad Kaaya.

He’s not like Ward; Ward just chooses not to scramble at times while hunting the big play. If Cam wanted to, he could run a lot more…but as we saw this season, he would rather hunt for the big play. He can make throws that leave you stunned. Make you say, “wow, he’s worth every penny”.

But Mendoza can move better than statues, that I agree with. He’s not Kyle McCord or Big Ben.

I just want to get out in front and say that unless you’re UGA or Michigan and have the best defense in America + a top 3 running game, you’re not winning anything substantial with him at QB. You want to go that route after seeing what a QB like Cam Ward can do to an offense? Be my guest.

You better surround him with a top 3 portal class, otherwise do not expect to win 10 games. That’s all I’m saying. He will not single-handily win you a game (or multiple games) like Cam did. If we start slow, he will not lead you back from 14+ point deficits very often.

Imo we still lose UNC and Louisville. FSU is a toss up. Could make the argument we lose TAMU. I’d say we win 8 or 9 with that defense.
