QBS in the Portal as of 11/28

A lot of assumptions being made that all will be fine if Mendoza saves us a lot of money and we get defensive players in the portal, but that seems like we'd being taking a huge risk that those defensive players will pan out exactly how we hope.

Also:

Are these portalers gonna be "coached up" by the current defensive staff?

There’s a world of difference between giving our receivers more respect and making an indefensibly irrational claim, i.e. “Miami’s WR’s > OSU’s WR’s because of their stats,” that completely disqualifies anything else you say from being taken seriously.
Enough with the self depreciating nonsense with our guys . Our receivers are **** good, backed it up with tvd and cam ward, it didn’t matter. Done arguing about it. You got it

Not saying Mendoza can't be our guy, but interesting how quickly some have decided he's the answer.
Go back and look at the comments about DBs before the season. You will notice a pattern.

Stetson Bennett works when you're surrounded by NFL talent and lead by a competent head coach, neither of which you can say is the current situation at Miami.
Kirby Smart is a better version of Mario. To this day, he gets criticized for mismanaging time/rosters/coordinator hires. (He is elite DC so that helps.. but Mario same on OL)

But yeah, I'd love to buy a Georgia roster with a manger QB. (Had my fill of elite QB with sh*t roster)

It’s not self deprecating to admit that our group wasn’t as good as theirs. Our group was **** good, possibly the second best unit in the country.

But if you can say with a straight face that you would hesitate for even a second to be able to go back to the beginning of the season and swap receiver groups with them idk what to say.

We all know that Mendoza wouldn't be considered if he wasn't of Cuban descent and from Miami.

Just read where (supposedly) Auburn is gonna be all over Mendoza as well (Freezus needs to win ASAP ot it's gonna be door-***-out).

Mendoza wouldn't be a bad pick up by any means, but is he our best option — playing by far the most important position in college football — to get to the CFB next season??

QB portal is straight garbage this year, even accounting for dudes still to enter.

Pray to god for Mateer and if you don’t get him, you can bring another mid QB like Mendoza to compete if you want.

But all of this is rendered pointless if you don’t fix the defense.

We had mf Cam Ward and missed the playoffs. No news on staff changes is making me nervous.

What made them better? Our guys stats were better and you can’t just say cam ward. Those same guys produced a lot last year too with tvd of all people
They're better, because I'd rather have had Smith/Egbuka/Tate over our top 3 with Cam Ward and Dawson. I don't mean to knock our guys; they put up huge numbers.

I think a big reason we lost the Gtech game was because we didn't have a #1 WR-type on the outside. We had 5 drives in which we scrimmaged in plus territory and got 3 points total. I don't think you get the same result if you replace our WR core with OSU's.

There’s no debate. Two of their three WRs are first rounders, not sure where Tate will slot. We will not have one taken before maybe Round 2, likely round 3. Horton completely disappeared last three games, and wouldn’t you know it, we lost two. He can’t be counted on to be a WR1 on the outside.

But this is the same board trying to compare Fernando freaking Mendoza to Cam Ward, so it’s par for the course.

Hand up, I think I got that ball rolling, lol. All I was trying to do was refute the point that Mendoza is a statue by pointing out that he and Cam had the same amount of rushing yards when sack yards were discounted. Statues don't run for 350 yards in a season from the QB postion, was all I was saying. But am 100% done with both these arguments now. Everyone else can carry on if they like.
