QBS in the Portal as of 11/28

You like Mendoza more than Mensah? Dont get why we didnt even kick the tires there
Doesn't sound like he gave anyone a chance. Enters portal, visits Duke the next day and then commits. Even if you love Duke likely should at least see if you can up the bag leveraging another visit or 2.

I don't get the Mendoza love. Kid holds the ball too long and doesn't progress thru his reads like you need to win a ship. I'm surprised he can still walk after this season. Being 27th in passing offense but only having 16 TDs and getting sacked 45 times is hella-yikes.

I honestly think it's debatable if he would be that much of upgrade over our backups and quit possibly not as good as Luke on day 1.

Let's be honest if you can't put up 300 yards on Miami you aint ****.

If he wants Poffs role go for it.

do any of you dummies consider that the money saved by getting Mendoza could then be used to ACTUALLY HAVE A DECENT DEFENSE?!?

No... the only reason we had 10 wins this year was because of Cam...

QB is the most important position there is. We just learned that.

I’m not saying Mendoza is Cam but one place I think he IS better is keeping on schedule. Cam was special because of his 6th sense and ability to extend but there were many times where it was completely unnecessary and hurt us - see GT.
I want to see more 12,22 personnel next year because it’ll make the run game more potent, give us the advantage on the perimeter and utilize play action more. Mendoza is perfect for that.
Only question I have is arm strength. Other than that, he’s a leader and a life long Cane fan so he knows what he’s getting into.
I take him and move forward on defensive portal players.

You used the team with the best skill players money can buy to strengthen argument? Who are our comparable players?
Our offense was better collectively than Ohio state.

Best receiver group

Miami receivers >>> Ohio state(they had emeka and j smith plus who else?)
Plus based on this season alone restrepo was better than Jsmith

Miami rbs better>>> osu duo may be better but Miami was deeper at rb this year

Miami te group- >>> better than Ohio state

Miami ol group>>> better than Ohio state

I'm not going to get into a debate about how good osu is. How does any of that apply to 2025 when all of those position groups are depleted because Miami loses 3 WRs, starting RB, at least 2 OL, starting TE? Mendoza won't be playing with the 2024 Miami team.

Mendoza wasn’t my top guy but I’d be ok with it if he’s the choice. I like adults in the room at this position. Smart , mature guys who care. On top of that he has more talent than some here are giving him credit for. He moves well for 6’5 , has a good enough arm and is accurate. Plus he doesn’t turn the ball over. He also throws a nice back shoulder fade.

He’ll be surround him with a very good OL, skill guys and run game. He’s never has anything like this. Get him at a home town discount then go spend on the defense. If we’d had a guy like this two years ago versus a turnover machine at qb we likely win double figures and play for the Acc.

Won't even revisit the pain of Jeremiah playing for those scumbags and Egbuka could be a first-round pick.

It's a little like saying we got a better group than LSU in 2019 with Ja'Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson because our Nos. 3-4-5 WR's are clearly better than who Burrow was throwing to.

It's the difference-makers at the top that really matter
