QBS in the Portal as of 11/28

I actually don’t think we have a 10 win team today regardless of QB we take in the portal. I think we have to raise the floor. There is no one that will raise our ceiling in the way Cam did. I don’t see anyone in the portal or who is staying in college that has the ability to raise us like Ward did.

No one in the country would lead us to 10 wins this year. Not Milroe, not Gabriel, not Beck, not Nuss or Shedeur or Ewers or Allar.

CERTAINLY not Will Howard, I still crack up about the 1a 1b conversations we had on here.

Cam Ward is the best QB in America and a top 5 NFL pick. We will surely miss him and there’s no replacing him.

8-4/9-3 in regular season. Think we woulda lost to A&M cause we really didn't run the ball well that game. Beat GT & NC St. UNC's the coinflip for me.

I’m still waiting for anyone to present a name to this discussion of the QB1 that will overcome all the flaws of this roster next year and take us to the playoffs. Who is that guy? Everyone ***** on Mendoza and Arnold, etc, but that player does not exist. Not even Mateer. Maybe someone emerges to be that guy, but he’s not known today

I don’t think anyone is as good as Ward, simply because I don’t think there’s a top 10 NFL draft pick in the portal right now. But two names (at least in my book) that can be very much competitive with high upside, provided we significantly improve our defense and perimeter weapons in the portal…

Now I’m 60/40 on Ewers hitting the portal. I think this CFP will have a large say in this. He’s not coming back to Texas, that much I’m sure of. It’s Arch’s time, and Ewers, quite frankly, looks more and more broken each week. Something is off, and his draft stock has dipped. But he still might just say F it, I’m going pro and I’m fine being a 2nd or 3rd round pick.

I might be in the minority, but even if he hits - no thanks, not worth the $$$. Go spend that on DTs, two alpha WRs, and as many cornerd/safeties as you can find
 
Do we even know if we are going after any QB lol ? Seems like we have made no contact to any QB in portal so far might me emory all along ? Any insiders know the plan ?

It all depends on the defense. If we upgrade the defense, we can without a doubt win 10+ games with a guy like Mendoza and Arnold next season. We got the oline, the running game and a talented group of wrs. Think about it like this... If we paired this years offense with even an average defense, we're easily legit national championship contenders. There is no debate

Seems like a tough climb, especially since Venables knew how much he needs an answer at QB when he hired Ben Arbuckle from Wazzu to run his offense

1. Same OC who didn't get Cam to NYC and couldn't keep Cam at Washington State

2. Same Texan who went to WASHINGTON STATE.

3. Any P4 conference is better than the Pac 2.


Good lord, we have a bunch of fans who could pay for a prostitute and then talk their way out of getting laid...

4. We had the best offense in the country (Oklahoma ranked 121st)
5. We have one of the best offensive lines in the country (Mauigoa, Cooper, Bell, McCoy, and Rodriquez all returning)
6. We have a very talented group of wrs currently on the roster, and there will likely be more to come

Ewers would be worse than Tyler. He loves to **** up a big moment.

If I didn’t know better, reading the comments from certain posters makes me think Mateer is considering us vs OU as we speak, with WSU being given an opportunity to come up with something. And doing all this without having to declare for the portal.

In the meantime, let’s go ahead and extend that 5 mill offer to JS and get a slot WR locked in as well. Solidify the line and get us some big bad war daddies for the defense with a brand new secondary.

Top it off with a new DC and Mateer will be here 100 percent.
