Mendoza is expected to garner major interest. Those around the coaching & personnel world view him as a high-end QB with NFL upside.

But I thought Mendoza only got talked about on here because of the Cuban Mafia?

For the record, I don't think Miami goes in this direction. But I'm contractually obligated to hype up a fellow Cuban. Plus, I was the first media person to tag Mendoza as an FBS QB when he was committed to Yale, so I'll give myself a Barry Horowitz pat on the back when he signs for more than $1 million a year.

Also was sacked 2.5x more than the previous year, upped his completion percentage by 5% and threw only 6 INTs. Hard to find a better ratio with his numbers. He's sneaky. Not a big name but honestly looks solid.

He ran for the same yardage as Cam did, but just got sacked a lot more.

Cam had 196 rushing yards and lost 142 on sacks = 338 yards
Mendoza had 105 rushing yards and lost 235 on sacks = 340 yards

Cal isn’t built as a sling it around team. They play good defense and ball control. I’m not a big fan of the move. It would be a low hanging fruit type move. But you’ve gotta dig past just surface level stats with a player coming from that style of program.

Or he already has a deal with OU in place. I haven’t seen anything about them as far as qb movement…..

I don’t think we can’t wait that long again. We need other positions to get excited about our direction next year.

Mendoza wasn’t my top guy but I’d be ok with it if he’s the choice. I like adults in the room at this position. Smart , mature guys who care. On top of that he has more talent than some here are giving him credit for. He moves well for 6’5 , has a good enough arm and is accurate. Plus he doesn’t turn the ball over. He also throws a nice back shoulder fade.

He’ll be surround him with a very good OL, skill guys and run game. He’s never has anything like this. Get him at a home town discount then go spend on the defense. If we’d had a guy like this two years ago versus a turnover machine at qb we likely win double figures and play for the Acc.
