Why was Arnold benched?

Better question, why did he play so bad it caused him to get benched?
I know their OL this year was bad and didn't they lose like their like 1-6 WRs for periods of time? I figured OU was just looking to scapegoat someone and did not really see much of his play though.

Automatically better than he was at Oklahoma if he comes to Miami because he had no OL, no WRs, and no RB this season.

I can assure you that is not a good depiction of Jackson Arnold.

Would love to have a 2 year guy like Nix at Oregon.

He was absolutely killed by that OL. He was sacked 17 times in 2 games (9 - Ole Miss, 8 - USCjr)

He got benched, then came after the freshman qb imploded against Texas and almost single handily beat Bama.

If nothing else the guy is fighter.

I still think Ewers considers a transfer. I haven’t seen him mocked higher than 100 since early Nov. and the AAV in that spot is like $1.4 million. Maybe he will rise boards but he could do what Cam did no doubt. Wish casting I guess

Best we can hope for is if Texas asks him to renegotiate down his NIL deal and **** him off.

Yep and His top 5 receivers were injured for multiple weeks. Should’ve never been benched but Venables panicked. He is a guy I would definitely bet on, just hope he isn’t **** bent on staying in the SEC. Only negative to him is he can be turnover happy, but so was Cam at previous spot.

Makes me wonder why Mateer would go there, OC or not. It’s not a ready made situation

They had a bunch of walk on’s playing

Arnold - if he is actually good - would be like the perfect get cause he'd have 2 years here. That would be extremely helpful for future recruiting including out of portal this year.

Pure conjecture
Of the 3
Mateer
Miller
Arnold

Who do you want?
Uniquely different guys and situations

Wild card Weigman
Mateer is in a league of his own. Easily #1.

Arnold and Weigman would have the highest upside and lowest floor. Riskiest.

Moss would bring a higher floor but lower ceiling.

I guess out of the rest, I'd put Arnold first. But not sure how confident I'd be playing ND and UF in fiest 4 weeks next season with him as QB.

This is the one I’m waiting on but it’ll be a while though. Arch will be the starter next year. There’s no way he sits another year. Ewers isn’t a high enough draft pick IMO to jump to the NFL yet. Comes here with a chip on his shoulder and something to prove and improves his draft status like Cam did in the process. Dude just needs to stay healthy.

It was NOT about money with J Smith. At the time, Cam publicly committed to the NFL. If he had not flirted with the NFL, perhaps we would have landed J Smith.

Given we couldn't even get to the ACC title game, I'm sure JS feels he made the right decision.
Maybe JS would have been the difference in one of our 2 losses.
Specifically in the 2nd/3rd quarters of those games.
