Pretty sure Arnold is leaving OU because Mateer is a package deal with his OC that just became the OC at OU.

Hate to start a new thread but seems like regardless we was taking a smaller class this year . Yes we would have took a few orhers but wasn’t willing to be in a biding war to get them . Wondering if this is our biggest focus this year qb , dbs in the portal $$$. Just seems like we just took enough in each position

I’ve followed Arnold since middle school (some kids I coached went to Guyer at the same time). You put him behind our oline and running game, and he’ll be more than serviceable for us. Iirc, he won the elite 11 when he came out.

Interesting story about Arnold - when he was a freshman in hs, he was promoted to varsity to back up the starter (Eli Stowers, the now TE at Vandy). I don’t think he ever saw game action until the state championship when Stowers got hurt in the beginning of the game. Imagine your first game action in that moment as a freshman. It didn’t go well for him and he got hammered something fierce. But he took his licks and kept coming back for more. Won the team over and led them next 3 years.

Kid has the toughness and he’s resilient.

Automatically better than he was at Oklahoma if he comes to Miami because he had no OL, no WRs, and no RB this season.

I can assure you that is not a good depiction of Jackson Arnold.

Would love to have a 2 year guy like Nix at Oregon.

Plus he had a garbage OC. OU fans really like Arnold

So OU Pushed out Gabriel for Arnold, and is now pushing out Arnold for Mateer? Would be funny if they didn't land Mateer..
99% sure they wanted to keep Gabriel, but the feeling wasn't mutual on his part (Good decision!)

Why was Arnold benched?

Better question, why did he play so bad it caused him to get benched?

OU lost like their Top 5 WRs. And their OL was horrible, especially at pass blocking. So they could not throw the football.

So around the Texas game they went with the QB that was basically just a running back and tried to run a ball control, methodical rushing offense. Almost like Army or Navy does.

I live in Dallas and attend the OU-Texas games most years. Their offense never got in Texas territory for the part of the game I stayed for, outside of the Ewers opening possession INT that put them in Texas territory.

I still think Ewers considers a transfer. I haven’t seen him mocked higher than 100 since early Nov. and the AAV in that spot is like $1.4 million. Maybe he will rise boards but he could do what Cam did no doubt. Wish casting I guess
