Proof of Concept at QB

it was good to see Dawson fight back on Tim Reynolds' inference that we scored less points and therefore underachieved. he immediately said he scored on 7/8 drives and explained how he adjusted to FSU defensive structure that slowed the game down.

Remember when everyone knew who Lou Hedley was....

...good times....

Jimmy Graham went Rd 3 despite having no football background until playing one season his final year at UM and making a grand total of 17 catches in his career and a substantially lower yards per catch. Arroyo is far more polished than Graham, has all the tools both athletically and skills-wise to be a top TE as he excels at catching, route running, yards after the catch, and blocking. While it's no sure thing he'd be taken in the first round, with a strong combine showing it is very much possible, and would definitely move into or very near the top TE spot in the draft. The NFL is very much enamored with measurables and prototype players and don't just look at college production when so many factors play into those production stats.
I think Arroyo could have a good shot at Round 3.

"Arroyo's fluidity, downfield playmaking ability, and RAC skills have put him squarely in conversation for best TE in this year's draft class."

- Jim Nagy, Executive Director of the Senior Bowl / 18-year NFL Scout

noticed the first comment on the tweet said this:

"Incredibly high character. Two years ago, Miami was on the road playing Ga Tech and it was Jacquri Brown's 1st start at QB. Arroyo was hurt and not on the travelling squad. He paid for himself to get to Atlanta to watch and support the team"

First if that is true that is pretty cool of arroyo to do, really happy for him to have pushed through the injuries and getting rewarded with playing time (I still think he should be targeted more)

He should go far before that. More complete and polished at the college level than Graham in every way. The only argument you can make for any college TE as being a significantly better pro prospect this coming draft would be based solely on more game experience, not measurables and skills

Agree to disagree.

I remember when Reddick said that about Arroyo. In the context of it it felt like he was just excited about how good he was and it made for a cool sound byte. A lot of this type of stuff is just jockeying for position much like recruiting rankings or whatever else you wanna call it

Still too many steps of evaluation left but he’s gonna be really good in the league. Someone said here he doesn’t make contested catches. I think he’s shown excellent hands personally. Go back to the first game against UiF and watch the angle from the field where Cam fired that pass behind him, around a defender, before Arroyo was even looking. Was a **** of a catch even for a WR let alone a TE.

I don’t think he will go Round 1 that’s sort of rarified air for a TE, but if he runs well someone might wanna snag him early

Been amazing to watch him finally put it together this year

When Dawson takes the West Virginia head coaching job, things will get interesting.
i dont know what is going on with WV, but i would hope that both Dawson and Guidry stick around one more year to see this cycle out. if this year is good, next year could be better.

Who is the skill player that has the equivalent to averaging 2 catches and 38 yards per game that has went Day 1? The problem is these players see these same tweets and forget that they haven't produced **** in college. Then they fall to Day 3 uDFA. I will hang up and wait.
Ok, here ya go:

Noah Fant 2018 at Iowa had 39 catches, 519 yards, 7 TDs (so 43 y/g and 0.58 TD/g). Was drafted Pick 20 in the 1st round in the 2019 draft.

Hayden Hurst 2017 at South Carolina had 44 catches, 559 yards, 2 TDs (so 43 y/g and 0.15 TD/g). Was drafted pick 25 in the 1st round in the 2018 draft.

OJ Howard 2016 at Alabama had 45 catches, 595 yards, 3 TDs (so 39.7 y/d and 0.2 TD/g). Was drafted pick 19 in the 1st round in the 2017 draft.

...

Compared to Arroyos current 16 catches, 310 yards, 4 TDs (so 38.8 y/g and 0.5 TD/g).

To me Arroyo maybe a late 2nd round pick. Most likely a 3rd. Regardless about his actual stats, where he is drafted Will ENTIRELY depend on how he performs at the Combine. He does well, he'll probably go day 2. He does bad he'll for sure be day 3.

Every single player you listed had multiple years of production.

So changing the Goalposts is your answer? You asked a very specific question, and I provided you 3 very specific examples showing exactly what you were implying doesn't happen was wrong.

I should have looked at who I responded too. That is on me.

Don't try to blame others. You asked a question, you never said "oh, and let me throw in multiple years of production as a criterion as well".

Here is the question:

"Who is the skill player that has the equivalent to averaging 2 catches and 38 yards per game that has went Day 1?"

Setting aside the fact that you can't conjugate verbs ("has went"?), your question was answered.

Multiple people responded, and you didn't like the answers, so you moved the goalposts.

It's not JUST that you're a mope, you're also a weasel.

Just when I thought this would be productive.

Just take responsbility for asking an overly simplistic question that did not yield the answer you expected, and stop blaming the people who responded to you.

That would be productive.
