Proof of Concept at QB

Those same fans cried about the running game when we passed the ball instead of running into 8 man fronts.

If a defense makes one thing really easy for you, you do that one thing until they make an attempt to stop it.
They sure did. We have some real idiot cucks amongst us in our fanbase.

Could not agree more with you regarding taking what the defense is giving.

Again, I love Arroyo. But right now he's not on anyone's draft board as the #1 tight end. He has 16 catches on the year.

This board tends to overrank Canes players. ****, people had Zion Nelson as a Top 10 pick a few years back, and Brevin Jordan being the first TE taken off the board.

Arroyo is a nice player but he's not the #1 tight end on anyone's board at the moment.
Not his fault his oc doesn’t like using TEs other than for blocking

This is an awful take. Do you really think a 4 or 5 star high school recruit is going to have second thoughts about coming to Miami because Emory Williams, a 3 star with 4 career TDs to his name is being recruited over in the portal?
Again, if you recruit over him via the portal for some questionable player simply because that transfer has more experience, then yes. Because almost all of those proposed so far are just experienced, but not particularly great. You recruit over someone because the incoming player is expected to be significantly better.

Gator fans would riot. DeSantis would have to call in the national guard.

Honestly though, I don’t think he leaves. I think Billy gets another year there.

Looked at his recruiting timeline and doesn’t look like he ever visited Miami. He showed zero interest. Was UF all the way. He’s not going to bail on them because they are mediocre, especially after UF has shown a pulse in recent games and their fans are buzzing about him. If he did bail for another school that wasn’t UM, fans here would be saying he’s got no loyalty and not the leader you want in the locker room. And before people say "Ward bailed on Wazzu, what’s that say about him?" Not remotely close
to the same thing.

Ward had done all he could at Wazzu. He knew he wasn’t going to raise his draft prospects there so he was leaving for the NFL. UM took him from the NFL, not from Wazzu.

Long story short, Lagway isn’t in a realistic conversation about the potential starting QB for UM next season.

I think if he leaves UF, then its 100% to go to TAMU. Hes got the familiarity of the area, and they've got serious money.

"Arroyo's fluidity, downfield playmaking ability, and RAC skills have put him squarely in conversation for best TE in this year's draft class."

- Jim Nagy, Executive Director of the Senior Bowl / 18-year NFL Scout

Who is the skill player that has the equivalent to averaging 2 catches and 38 yards per game that has went Day 1? The problem is these players see these same tweets and forget that they haven't produced **** in college. Then they fall to Day 3 uDFA. I will hang up and wait.

This is what happens when stupid people base all their information on a "looked at a recruiting timeline".

There is a poster on this board who is very familiar with Lagway's recruitment. I won't presume to speak for him. But there was definitely interest on Lagway's part that was not equally reciprocated on Miami's part. Whether it was timing/coaching opinions/bad evals/had-another-QB-already can be debated ad infinitum.

But your claims of "zero interest" and "UF all the way" are factually incorrect.

Does Arroyo play QB? Maybe that convo is for a different thread.

First of all, Arroyo has FOUR wide receivers ahead of him in catches, ranging from 27-43 catches over 8 games. So, yeah, maybe he doesn't have huge numbers, but he is averaging nearly 20 yards PER CATCH and 25% of his catches have gone for TDs.

Second, he is fairly comparable (statistically) to Noah Fant, who averaged 3 catches per game for 43 yards per game in his final year at Iowa.

Idc about that first part. Fant is a good comparison. He did have 2 years of production though and 18 TDs on top of all that. If Arroyo is running 4.4 everything else grades on a curve.

I am with you fam. From tidbits that I've read, the coaches have confidence in Williams too. My 2 cents but then again,I always get change back.
They have confidence in him but that doesn't mean they won't look to upgrade.

Jimmy Graham went Rd 3 despite having no football background until playing one season his final year at UM and making a grand total of 17 catches in his career and a substantially lower yards per catch. Arroyo is far more polished than Graham, has all the tools both athletically and skills-wise to be a top TE as he excels at catching, route running, yards after the catch, and blocking. While it's no sure thing he'd be taken in the first round, with a strong combine showing it is very much possible, and would definitely move into or very near the top TE spot in the draft. The NFL is very much enamored with measurables and prototype players and don't just look at college production when so many factors play into those production stats.

Yes, Arroyo has been hurt. But most of his TDs came in his second-to-last year. 37% of his catches went for a TD that year (he dropped to 18% his final year). Through 8 games, 25% of Arroyo's catches have gone for a TD.

And Fant ran a 4.5 at the combine. Not sure if Elijah can match that, given the injuries, but still.

If NFL scouts/teams feel like his injuries are behind him, Arroyo could play his way into the first day with solid post-season and combine numbers. We all know he can throw the ball too...
